Hi
Please help. My little son grabbed his step brothers 2 degrees c8660nz phone and I don't know what he has done, but it says too many pattern attempts and has locked him out. Its asking for a google account which he has never had?
I have tried googling a fix and it says to power off and use the volume down and power off button together and when it comes back up to use the volume down button to get into factory reset but this doesn't work! I have tried with volume up button also.
Will I have to take to a two degrees shop for them to try and fix or is there an easier way??
I would really appreciate any help. thanks

I've only ever used one Android phone but I'm pretty sure that you're required to set up a Google account as part of the initial setup. There must be one floating around somewhere.

You will probably have to factory reset the phone if there is no Google account. You should be able to do this from the recovery mode, which if I remember correctly is accessed by holding Home, volume up and power (could be volume down)

Thanks for all your advice everyone. But nothing worked, even 2 degrees couldn't factory reset the phone. They reckon the new ones are even harder now days to reset. So had to fork out for a new phone!!! Little son won't be doing that again in a hurry!!!!

You can definitely reset the phone from recovery. I had to do this to my friend's exact same phone when this happened to him.

Hi, have you tried the following steps. If not please try this AFTER saving any data (e.g. contacts, files, photos, messages, etc) you may have on your phone onto a SD card.

If you have a Google account setup on the phone, by all means first try to recover the phone by using the Google mail account and password. If you didn't set one up on the phone, then it is not possible to recover the stored data with this option.

Following are the steps to hard reset the Smart Touch (wiping the pin):

1. Power off the phone

2. Press and hold volume up and volume down keys and press the power button until handset vibrates (keep holding the power button until you get to the Android system recovery screen)

3. Use the volume keys to scroll down to ‘wipe data/factory reset’ then press the home soft key

4. Scroll down to Yes – delete all user’ and press the home key again’.

The phone should restart once the Factory Reset has been completed.

If not, please PM us your son's 2degrees number, 4 digit security number and an alternative contact number to call you back on.

Thanks for that, but there was no option once it vibrated and the 2 degrees logo came up to do anything. The man at the 2 degrees shop couldnt do it either. he said, the newer phones are making it harder and harder to get in and even do a factory reset nowdays....
