I'm currently waiting for VDSL to be connected to our new place. The house currently has ADSL with Xnet.

I spent 3 hours last night google search forums, talking to Xnet and Snap tech support. No one really knows why the 7390 is not connecting to Xnet ADSL.

I have updated the 7390 to the latest firmware.

The Fritzbox itself shows a DSL connect is live, but apparently it is not trying to register with Xnet (sorry for laymans explanation). Xnet said that they could see no activity from their end.

The modem currently used by the household is a draytek 2710VN, however the modem is having issues with the LAN side of things hence me trying out the 7390.

I'm at my wits end with this. I'm starting to wonder if the unit is faulty or simply incompatible with Xnet.

Do you have it correctly configured to use PPPoA with no VLAN tagging rather than the default PPPoE with VLAN10 tagging required for Snap?

Yes, set up from factory reset, PPPOA / VC-MUC. No Vlan tagging.

I've already followed the Xnet/WXC ADSL settings to a tee.
The only thing that can't be set on a Fritzbox 7390 is PAP, however Snap tech support told me this shouldn't be an issue as Snap use Fritzboxes for their ADSL connections which is also PAP.

when you say it's not worknig, is there some kind of system log that can tell you things like if password is failing etc?

There is a event log, but this shows no activity when set for PPPOA. Once I had confirmed the password with the ISP they said they could not detect any login attempts or any activity from the Fritzbox.

Strangely when I changed settings to PPOE (just to experiment), the event log noted connection errors and timeouts.

I have found some old archived posts from a couple years ago with Fritzbox owners who also couldn't get ADSL to work at all.

I can't really help but can confirm new Fritz!box from snap had no issues connecting to xnet.

I did however have have issues with Snap, connected fine, sync speed great but downloads speeds seemed capped at half meg. Issue was with the modem and once I created a new ISP profile in the internet account page everything came right and away it went.

Ok thanks for confirming, the admin menus are so basic in the Fritzbox that it should be hard to miss anything. Still don't know what I'm missing. What firmware do you have loaded?
As an act of desperation do you think you could delete your Xnet account settings (username and password), save and then backup to a cfg file and send to me I can restore onto my fritzbox and test?

i suspect you have it in basic mode then.. in which case, your EXTREMELY limited in options..

I'm now back on snap so don't have xnet profile. Have you tried creating a new profile on the account page rather than updating existing one? When I created new profile it came right, no idea why. Only thing I can think of, might have been been set to LLC vs VC-MUX (don't know what the side affects would be if wrong).

I'll have to check my system tonight. What version you running, cant remember what mine is but 6.0.5 sounds familiar?

I did a factory reset when changing over from VDSL to ADSL as I read somewhere in geekzone that fritzboxes in the past had a problem switching over and a reset was needed and am pretty sure I created a new profile.

I will have a look tonight and try creating a new profile. Was definitely set to VC-MUX as per WXC settings.

I now have the latest firmware which i think is either 6.05/6. Thanks for all your help.

i can vaguely remember something weird like this on my SNAP VDSL 7390, but it was over a year and a half now, was still on vodafone adsl waiting for snap vdsl

just changing the settings to work from VDSL to ADSL didn't work as you would normally expect, had to competently delete everything WAN side and start from scratch

i cant remember exactly what i did, possibly may have used the wizard to create a new connection
