Is there an easier way to listen to snap voicemail messages on my PC?

Ideally, I'd like something in the task tray which will popup a 'new voicemail' notification with a play button.

At the moment, I must sign into the snap.net.nz web interface, click snap plus (hardly intuitive), click phone settings (again, not intuitive at all). This opens a popup window that says i have new voicemail, then, i have to click another button to access the voicemail list display, and finally, click the 'play' button.

This is cumbersome but maybe I am unaware of some other snap service which makes it easier. I checked support and could find nothing relevant to playing voicemail.

And, one more thing.  Could it be possible to have my iphone to make/receive calls via my snap voip service?  I know i can do this at home when connected via wifi, but why not on the public internet?

Is there an option on their admin system for voip to email you your voicemails? 2Talk allows this and I find it the easiest way to get voicemails on other devices and listen to them (I usually access them from email client on mobile phone, but PC works fine too of course)

They used to allow emailing but that doesn't seem to work any longer .

I remember playing with the Fon app on a 7390 I had when they launched and it was possible to register a phone remotely if you configured it. There are obvious security risks doing this however.

i just log onto my fritxbox to get my answer  phone messages, can do it from anywhere,  but even easier i just use the Fritx fon app on my android devices and i just press and hold the 1 key to hear all messages, there is one for i phones etc havent tried it but would think its the same. Also use the app to make calls through my fritz box where i can connect through a wifi network, handy if you are on telecom and can use the free wifi.  you may need a flash drive plugged into the fritz box to record messages and add your own , havent tried it without one but it should work.

Do they no longer let you set this up (my account / snap plus / phone settings / settings / messages / general / forward messages as emails.)?
Mine is still working correctly.

I use remote wave to listen to them on my phone as there is something about the wav file that some other players don't like.

Haven't set up answering in the fritzbox - this is all through snap plus.

Hey thanks, it did the trick.

Snap made some changes to voicemail a while back and the email thing stopped working so I thought it was no longer supported.

Now, I just want to be able to make phone calls via my voip from anywhere.

Shift to a better platform then. 2Talk Connect app for your smart phone is quite good. Works well overseas. I used it in the States (west coast) and latency wasn't too bad at all. I've got a customer who goes to Japan often too and from what he says it works well up there too.

There are plenty of people who would argue that Metaswitch is a vastly superior platform than something bolted together using Asterisk and Freeswitch. cool

Will consider, although it would cost more too .

my voicemail has always been emailed to me upon recorded, pretty handy.

i dont have the fritz setup to capture it, so snaps system handles it for me, works out perfect for me as im ALWAYS on my emails, and normally within reach of a few devices syncing from my mail accounts.

Haha ok fair point. Shall I re-phrase and say 'Shift to a platform that is configured better'.
