I joined orcon in Jan 2014.

I don't own a phone. Never have. A phone has never been plugged into the router.

I changed every single password in the router so VoIP was unusable by ANYONE but me.

Every month since jan 2014 I've had extra charges from National and Mobile Calls being made from my number.

Everytime I called a number that was called they would be like "Not a clue who called." "You must have the wrong number." - Often 15 minute calls. You would retain a call that long less than 2 days before. You'd have the number in your call history in your phone. But every single time. Non one can tell me whos on the other end.

I called my own number. Yet it rings and there is no phone connected in my house. - No one picks up.

I called Orcon and they were like "Its you. It has to be. We arent going to help you and you have to keep paying the extra costs." (Nutshell)

Please help me figure out whats going on. I'd really appreciate it as Orcon is refusing to help me.

Do you own an analog phone? If not then how are you making the calls?

This is why I never want bundled voip. Shame orcon don't offer call recording like 2talk do.

We dont own a phone. At all.

We're just uni students who use cellphones for calls. Which is exceptionally rare because we text like most people our age.

So no phone. No analogue or VoIP phone. Nothing.

This would be something you and Orcon will have to discuss again because from what I understand you have no VoIP phone connected at all yet calls are being made. One would think that isn't possible unless someone has access to your account info

Why not ask them to remove the VoIP connection from your account if possible and tell them why. You need to pressure them to actually do something. Otherwise just don't pay the bill and tell them why. Let them know you have no phone attached and they can surely go from there and see where the calls are supposedly being made from.

I think you either need to complain harder to Orcon, get them to change the number and or password.

All else fails stop paying for the calls and then they will take notice.

There will be a VOIP password at the Orcon end (not in the router) which will need to be changed. The VOIP in the Orcon modem is a client that logs into a server at Orcon somewhere (like webmail). Ring Orcon and get that password changed.

Cheers, Matt.

So I called my own number again.

A guy in Rotorua picked up.

Orcon 100% screwed up and gave the same number out twice.

I asked them. "Could you have possibly given out the same number twice?"

And the typical response. "No. Not possible."

PM me your account number, I can think of at least one technical possibility that would cause this without anyone being retarded and giving your phone number out to two subscribers.

Found you....looking into it....

So, it is technically possible. Therefore whomever the OP was on the phone to, that stated categorically several times that it was not possible and refused to take it further were, ... fantastically wrong.

Lurking ...

Obviously. But I have only seen it twice in 40,000 customers so not at all common.

Its incredibly annoying this day in age that you have to fight to talk to someone that knows what they're doing and then fight to prove you know what your doing too before you get any progress.

I do agree and I often get frustrated. However, when i have to help someone at work with an issue, I'm quickly reminded of what these companies are dealing with. They have no choice but to expect the worst.

It would be nice to be able to enter a code you've earned in order to avoid it though.

Have a nice weekend lads.
