Sorry of some of this has been covered, my search didn't seem to turn up what I was looking for.

I am in Christchurch and upgrading from Snap VDSL to Snap UFB on the 100/50 plan, and just had a couple of questions regarding the Fritz! My install gets completed tomorrow, so just want to have all the info I need before then.

Snap tech support says I need to change both the downstream and upstream speed in "connection settings" to 100000 kbit/s. But on a 100/50 plan shouldn't it be set to 102400 kbit/s and 51200 kbit/s respectively? Does it make a difference? The person I spoke to was reading from a manual and didn't sound that knowledgeable so thought I'd ask here.

Also, I am currently running firmware 5.22 as I understand later firmware had issues on VDSL. What is the best firmware to be running on UFB?

Thanks for the help

Considering I have both of mine set to 99999 I wouldn't be too concerned with the figures :)

However if you put it lower, itll cap the speed ;)

30/10 Snap UFB user here.

Looking at my FritzBox settings, under Account Information > Internet Connection > Connection Settings... my Upstream and Downstream fields are set to 999999 kbit/s. I didn't set this, is just the default setting from Snap I suppose.

I'm using FRITZ!OS 06.06, been fine for me.

any speedlimits to fiber plans would be done on snaps side rather than your CPE regardless, been awhile since i tinkered with it, but IIRC on fiber/cable mode for the fritz the numbers you set there are used for the QOS.

firmware on fiber, shouldn't matter too much. aside from the odd qurks with IPv6 in a few of the newer firmwares (haven't tested the 6.0 branch myself.)

if hes floating around, im sure cjmchch will be able to tell you what the sweet spot is.

Fellow member/friend called me when he switched. UFB was set to 2Mb (or similar) upload on fritz, and noticed an impact. After changing to 999999 too it shot up :)

yes, if its set low its absolutely going to be noticeable... as i said, its used for the QOS to know the upper limit it should be working with.

What Fritz box model are you using Paul1977?

And as the others have said - set it to 999999.
