so global mode seems to not be working for me, i get "this page has a redirect loop" when i try to load videos on netflix.

anyone else got the same problem?

netflix does indeed seems to be broken at the moment for me on ss global

iplayer / crackle and hulu work though.....

weird... it seems to be working in my windows vm but not on osx... the host OS.

now only in os x it just forever says connecting instead of coming up about the redirect loop.

i wonder why it would work on windows and not os x. the windows vm network adaptor is set to bridged so they both share the same DHCP server so they're both on the same network, and in fact they're both on my local domain.

i tried it in an os x VM, it worked on there. so its just not working on my macbook pro's host OS.

when i try to go to netflix.com on my macbook sometimes it loads, sometimes i get "no data received"

but when it does load and i try to watch something i get "this page has a redirect loop"

i dont get it o.o

Are you watching it through Google Chrome (or possibly safari)? If so exit the application and restart. Chrome has its own DNS cache built in to speed things up. But sometimes these cached addresses can become stale. Especially when using something like global mode which involves a lot of DNS magic.

The cache that Google chrome creates is of the DNS results not the actual movies them selves. Part of the "magic" of "Globalmode".

If you want to see what Chrome caches for DNS enter "chrome://net-internals/#dns" in the url bar

sorry, when I said 'locally' I meant in NZ, not on your own PC.
I meant that AFAIK it is not possible for the ISP (or any chaching provider like Akamai) to cache US netflix content in NZ - they have to pull it down from LA (or wherever it is hosted) every time someone tries to stream it

That's going to pretty expensive for an ISP.

It's going to require Netflix launching locally (or Sky/Telecom/other equivalents) before ISPs really start promoting streaming content for that very reason.

And referring to the article, I always think it's strange when companies refer to multiples "number of users has quadrupled" Great. If you had 10,000 before,. that s a pretty impressive growth to 40,000. If you had a 100, then it's still only 400. not so impressive
