Lately there seems to be more and more emails showing up marked as [SPAM: ] so obviously Orcon have identified them.

Is there any way to have them automatically go to Intercepted Spam folder in the Webmail page instead ?
Or failing that, be binned or automatically returned to sender ?

(I have anough viagra now to last 100 years, and over 50 billion in a Nigerian bank !!!)

Then another one advises '1. Click the Preferences tab'

FAQ: SPAM FILTERING: HOW DO I WHITELIST OR BLACKLIST SENDERS AND EMAILS IN MY QUARANTINE?

Whitelisting is useful when mail from a sender you do want to receive email from is being captured by the spam filter, Blacklisting is useful when unwanted mail from a sender is still getting through to your inbox.

Log in to the spam filter at https://mailguard.orcon.net.nz
Click Rules
Click Senders
Enter the email address you wish to whitelist or blacklist, and click Add Rule
Use the Action drop-down box, choose the desired action and click Submit

In addition to blacklisting or whitelisting a sender, you can also blacklist or whitelist individual emails caught by the spam filter.

Log in to the spam filter at https://mailguard.orcon.net.nz
Click Quarantine
Under Status and Action, select the appropriate option from the drop down list for the email you wish to manage
Select Accept message to send the email to your inbox, or Reject message to delete the email

There is no limit to the number of emails that can be stored in quarantine, but any emails in there for longer than 14 days will be automatically deleted.

The first white/blacklist where you've a specific email address seems OK, but what if you want to disallow all emails flagged as [SPAM]. Is that what "Click to opt out of Spam-scanning' does, or does that let everything through ?

After clicking Quarantine, I don't see any Status or Action options. Because no address has been set up to process yet ? I don't know the address until the spam message I want to avoid is received. Kindof defeats the purpose.

When I log into Webmail (which may be the older one) there's a folder called 'Intercepted Spam'. Can taht be used for anything?

I'm not that familiar with it but logging into Standard it looks fairly straightforward:

Home Tab - has the accept/reject (white and blacklist) options
Rules - lets you configure domains with action rules
Preferences - self-evident
Quaranbtine - where emails caught by the threshold, rules or blacklist go....

Yep, set Tag mode OFF - and spam will be placed in quarantine IIRC Mailguard is currently set to TAG mode, change it as below:

FAQ: SPAM FILTERING: HOW CAN I CHANGE HOW SPAM IS HANDLED?

By default, the spam filter will block any email it detects as spam from reaching your inbox. It quarantines spam emails inside the filter before getting rid of them at a later date. Quarantined emails will be stored for 14 days before being deleted.

It is important to check your quarantined emails regularly or change your settings to only Tag spam instead of quarantining it.

You can change to tag any spam emails and send them through to your inbox by completing the following steps.

Log in to the spam filter at https://mailguard.orcon.net.nz
Click the Preferences tab
Click Quarantine Settings
Where it says Only tag spam click Yes.
Click Submit Changes.

If you wish to revert back to quarantining your emails in the future, following the same steps as above but ensure that Only tag spam is set to No.

I find the 'only tag spam' value is already on 'Yes'. Do I need "No"? LOL could you add a Maybe option?!!

Seriously "Only tag spam -- do not hold any messages" and a yes/no could hardly be more ambiguous. How about "Quarantine SPAM Y/N ? ?

Anyway, will try No and see what happens!!

Yep it is already in TAG mode Ie it just tags spam but doesn't quarantine it).

Turning TAG mode off returns it to quarantine mode, which its default setting.

Last line (in italics) of the FAQ item I posted is the key one.
