We've recently moved to fibre with Span!, and I'm trying to register handsets with our Fritz!Box 7360, so far without success.

The first model I tried was the KX-TGB210. I don't see it listed anywhere as compatible, although the specs suggest it should be: still, as a weekend special at Harvey Norman for $9, it was worth a crack. Based on comments in another GeekZone thread (id=110628) I then bought a KX-TG1611NZ on TradeMe but, even after deregistering it from the base station, it won't register with the Fritz!Box.

I've toggled with the Troubleshooting option too, but that doesn't appear to affect the outcome.

If anyone can suggest further steps to try, I'm keen to hear. Thanks.

I seem to recall in the thread you reference I had endless problems until I got a TG2511 and registered that with the Fritzbox - it was only after I got that registered OK that I could successfully register the TG1611. Though it does look like you can at least see the relevant setting by default (Permit non-encrypted) so it seems your scenario is a bit different - I couldn't even see that setting until I got a TG2511 and registered it.

Sorry not sure I can be of more help as the thread you link to was quite a while ago :)

edit: TBH in the end I went back to just plugging the panasonic base station into the fritzbox fon port and registering with that, because caller id didn't work on either of the panasonics I have when registered directly with the fritzbox, but caller id works fine on them through the panasonic base stations.

Hi,
I have the KX-TG1311NZ and it works perfectly with the Fritz (note slightly different model).

In the settings I have "Permit only secure DECT connections" enabled.

I remember there was some kind of arcane button combination I had to push on the handset to get it to register with another base, but it was all in the manual.

Same on the 1311, works perfectly and very cheap if they still can be bought.

Ours does, we've got the KX-TG1313NZH (3 pack version of KX-TG1311NZ I believe). Caller ID is working on our Fritz 7390 hooked up to 2talk, I'll try to remember to grab a screenshot of it's settings when I'm home tonight.

To assist the OP, registering the 3 phones onto the Fritz was really simple, just a matter of following the instructions and pressing the right buttons. Was a < 5min job to pair the 3 units. It looks like your phone is a newer release, perhaps the DECT it's using is a bit different. Just had a quick read over the registering process for your phone, looks basically the same as what I can remember for ours.

Thanks for the helpful comments. Here's what I've tried:

[1] Reading every how-to I can find on the web.
[2] Restoring factory settings on the Fritz!Box.
[3] Every combination of Fritz!Box DECT settings.
[4] Attempted connection from the DECT menu, the Telephony menu and using the physical DECT button.
[5] Repeated registration attempts with both a KX-TGB210 and a KX-TG1611NZ.

What I haven't yet done:
[6] Buying a KX-TG2511 or KX-TG1311NZ to see whether I can register those.

At my partner's insistence the Frtiz!Box is installed on a high shelf in a cupboard. We have a telephone base station attached, but because it's in a cupboard we can't hear the phone ring when it's in the cradle, and there's no easy way to position the base station outside the cupboard.

Next, I suppose, is forking out $138 for a Fritz!Fon.

Oh well, I guess you'll see the Panasonic listings on TradeMe.

Another option (how we originally had ours, and why we had a 3 phone combo) is to get some other Panasonic TG1611 (or one with similar base/charging connection) and register it to the base station of your existing TG1611 handset. That way, you'll have a charging cradle around the house for the 2 phones.

Our routers etc are in an attic space above the lounge, so that base station never got used (other than being the master station for our 3 phones, connected to our previous router). Just need to remember to cycle the phones to charge!

Something that could make a difference (but really shouldn't), what firmware version is on your fritz?

I have a Panasonic 2721, just about the cheapest, got it through flybuys. Works perfect with the Fritz, directly paired. Slightly quiet and the clarity is only ok, but it works. One day I might try plugging the base station into the Fritz. My config is exactly the same as yours.

Thanks. I modified my previous post before refreshing the forum, but I have decided on the same course of action you've suggested.

I updated the Fritz!Box firmware to the latest this morning before the latest round of testing.

I'm interested to know how you get on.

I have the same issue with the same phone.

I ended up doing what was suggested earlier which is to buy two 1611 phones, plug one of the base in the fritzbox and register the other phone to the first 1611 base station.

This works fine, but means one phone needs to be next to the box (which is fine in our house - but I'd rather register them with the fritzbox directly).

I've also installed the fritz app on my phone so that I can use my mobile to get the calls as well.

Here are my DECT settings, caller ID works like a charm on my lil Panny's x3

and 2talk settings, not sure whats going on even though caller ID seems to be disabled I just tested calling home with my cell and the number showed up.

Having had all these problems before I have to congratulate you on your purchase of one of the worst phones to pair with the fritz.

And now for the some info and half solutions.

I have/had the KX-TGA161AZ cheap in appearance (no rubber on back/base station) and cost. I tried for ages to get it to work and finally gave up, and purchase a semi expensive model on the cheap the KX-TGA671AZ, this set had a base station and a second phone.

To my surprise it paired easily and straight to the point, just for giggles i decided to try the other one again (KX-TGA161AZ) and only with turning off ECO & selecting non encrypted connection's it started to work, had them turned off already due to trial and error, turning them on again prevents it from working again.

So story goes it can't be done (easily) unless you have a expensive one to pair first, i have an idea that this has to possibly do with the base station existing.

Some other food for thought, the KX-TGA161AZ has a bad ring when connected to the fritz, some thing like a 1/4 ring every 10 seconds.

I have my fritz setup to pass through from land line & 2talk & cheap voip provider (outgoing) to KX-TGA671AZ phones, ended up disconnecting the KX-TGA161AZ due to the useless ringtone, and having encryption sounded reasonable.

The caller ID as far as i know doesn't work for Panasonic dect phones, but connected directly via phone line it works fine, there's a write up on the fritz doco's about it, i found it after hunting for a while. I also get caller id on my mobile which is connected to the fritz.

You just don't get the option to turn on CLIP for panasonic DECT's

I must be special then... Really not sure what's going on with mine, but caller ID is working like a charm (with my Panny's directly connected to the fritz). I'm not 100% why or what I've done, but if I can provide some more screenies/hunt for settings please let me know.
