Hey guys,
I'm about to move houses and, thanks to ChCh rental woes, will be moving into a portable sleep-out positioned next to a house. I need some help framing my request to Snap/Chorus to get the best result for my move.
I'm currently with Snap ADSL and planning on upgrading to VDSL on the new property, which is available, and ultimately to Fibre which is apparently coming early 2015. I'm planning on using the connection solely for naked Broadband and running it directly to the sleep-out. There'll be no other connections inside the house.
I want the best VDSL connection possible from the property, is it simply a case of the tech connecting a cable from the outside box to the sleep-out? (actually the garage next to the sleep-out). The house has an alarm, so I'll need to either install a second phone line or use a master filter I assume. Second phone line won't require a filter or anything, right?
In terms of cost, I'm assuming that using a second phone line will be cheaper than dealing with the existing line and a splitter? Or if similar or more expensive, would there be significant advantages in using a second line anyway?
I'm really after right stuff to ask for to get this installation done as painlessly and effectively as possible! If I can succinctly request something from Snap, using the right language, I'd feel much more confident about getting what I need.
Finally, what sort of costs am I likely to incur here? This move was sprung a bit suddenly and I have significant expenses involved with hiring the sleep-out and moving... Are you required to pay in advance for Chorus' stuff? Or is it added to your Snap bill to pay at the end of the month? I've been with Snap for 3+ years if it makes a difference.
Thanks for reading, I hope it makes sense!
