What did they say when you contacted them?

If you have no DSL service since about 5hrs after the blackout then maybe your xDSL is coming from a cabinet on which the batteries have gone flat / I know the chorus have arranged for many of the mini standby generators from aroun the country to be sent up there so that the cabinets can be charged up / but it would still be a mater of prioritising and manpower to get them charged up and keeping them charged

Contacted Slingshot three times and was told it's due to the blackout. But with most of the power restored in Remuera for the last day I found that unbelievable.

And it certainly doesn't help that in the midst of the blackout Slingshot switched me over to a fibre plan (even though my fibre connection is not suppose to be installed in at least 2 months) and sent me an email informing that I have used all my data caps (even though I don't have Internet and signed up for an unlimited plan to start with)

Whole thing is a mess. My concern now is that if they switch me back to DSL plan which I should be on, my pending fibre connection is going to be magically "cancelled".

I've got a few customers around the area - I have tried getting a Generator put on 2 of the cabinets without success. I suppose that is what you get with having a best effort service?

Hey guys,

Had an update from Chorus at about 5pm yesterday. They've said all but 2 cabinets in Ellerslie are back up on mains. Sounds like there could be some residual problems due to power levels bouncing around but they're treating these on a case by case basis. If anyone is still having troubles your best bet is to give the tech guys a call.

OK apparently Vector who's installing natural gas for me at the moment cut the phone wire by accident.

The timing of that adds to the confusion it's somehow related to the power outage.

All fixed now after a visit from one of the Chrous technicians.
