Anyone know if Orcon plan to offer the Genius plan (unlimited data) without the VOIP line.  I have used Genius for nearly a year now and love the data service.  I also use the VOIP via Asterisk which works ok but is a bit limited in features.  Multiple concurrent connections etc.  I would like to transfer the SIP service to 2talk which has worked well for me in the past.  So any ideas if there will be a slightly cheaper unlimited plan without VOIP?  Unless it is available now and staring me in the face :)

I use another VoIP service as well (sorry Orcon - I know you guys probably put a lot in to this service).

I realize it's probably a pain in the butt to offer plans without VoIP, but I'd be keen in a such plan.

TBH the cost saving from not providing anything is outweighed by the added cost of having another variant.

Remember Genius already means doing without the POTS line element of the line rental. The CPE modem would be the same (else added cost in having a different one), the provisioning effort and cost would be the same (again added cost to build something different).

So same cost (perhaps even a tad greater) than Genius with its voip, less revenue...

So in my opinion, highly unlikely to be offered.

WHAT! I'll take your name....

Point taken fire engine. Thought it was worth asking. Still love the unlimited plan.

Hehe...
I think that Orcon has a fantastic offering - so don't get me wrong when I say I use another service.

To be honest, the only reason I use another VoIP service is because my current one works and I'm too lazy to move my Asterisk config over (that and I get a few perks on my current one).

Asterisk is pretty easy to set up on the Genius VoIP. It has worked for me although not supported I know.

I have both vfx and 2talk working through the genius modem too.

Sorry guys at Orcon :)

Still love the unlimited plan though. Not to mention world mode.
