Hi,
I'm in the process of moving from Telecom to MyRepublic.Do I need to change the settings in my Telecom modem to keep the connection alive after the changeover.

I did receive ASUS RT-N56U from MyRepublic today but after going through the web ui it doesn't allow VLAN tagging. So do we need VLAN tagging for MyRepublic.

Cheers!

The RT-N56U does support VLAN tagging on more recent firmware, under
Advnaced -> WAN ->Special Requirement from ISP -> Select ISP: Manual

Some Speed Test result on MyRepublic.Even though the connection isn't stable, they are slightly better than what I used to get on Telecom.Hardware is probably the obvious culprit in Telecom's case.

Ping is high for an Auckland and Wellington. Were you downloading/uploading during the speedtest?

Do whatever you want to do man.

Other than the Wellington server,Auckland ones are pretty similar to Telecom.

The connection is really unstable today. It's been crawling like a dial up with frequent disconnections (since 9 PM).Not sure if they are undertaking any maintenance work as it was perfect yesterday.

Can any one explain the short lease times. It was 10 mins before but I changed it to 1 hr.

Gateway is 10.13.x.x, interesting.

I am just being stupid or is that a private address range...... sounds like CG-NAT. This "amazing" network doesn't sound so amazing anymore.

You shouldn't be experiencing frequent disconnects - Because GPON is an optical technology, there's no variance in loss like with copper, so it's more of an always on or always off system - unless you've gotten the dodgiest, most marginal fiber install ever, you shouldn't experience frequent disconnects unless the hardware or RSP is doing something.

Yep the entire 10.0.0.0/8 Subnet is a private range.

So I guess that's what 'gaming mode' gives you, A public IP

Haha what an excellent way to market stuff. Gamers will sign up to the standard plan and get angry when they go on COD and get a "Strict" NAT type. Then they change to the 'gamer' plan and get connected to a bunch more games. Then come and here and tell everyone how great 'gamer mode' is on myrepublic.

Lol.... what a joke!

Maybe MyRepublic should have spent more coin on IPv4 addresses than buying a whole bunch of bandwidth first off.....

@Mayhem - is your WAN IP in the 10.0.0.0/8 or 100.64.0.0/10 range?
