2degrees should lead the way and offer its $19 customers 1 GB instead of the puny 500 MB. Spark/Telecom is definitely attractive with free WIFI as well as Spotify.

That's what I've been asking for too!

On a side note, I've just moved over to Skinny with their $26 plan that seems to be cheaper than similar plans on other providers, which offer 1GB data.

Skinny has doubled it to 1 GB on the $16 plan, although it's only promotional (I think it's for three months). Hopefully that kicks 2D into action; I'm not a customer but competition is good :)

I think the 1GB on the $16 Skinny plan only applies if you are bringing your number from another provider to Skinny, which is what I'm doing and taking advantage of that free month of usage! :)

Ahh, I'm not sure what the deal is; I just got a text today saying that it's been doubled to 1 GB. It was actually sent to me in error (I left Skinny last month!) but I assumed that it was for everyone.

I reckon people will leave unless 2degrees decide to act. They've been very stale and quiet lately, and need to stir around a bit. I thought they were supposed to be a challenger brand...

I agree too! I understand mobile data is a finite resource and can't be as cheap as we want, but 500MB when you have 4G is just cruel haha. I'd gladly give up some of those minutes, I have almost 1000 carried over that I don't use. I like how the minutes and data carryover, although I never have any data left to carry over at the end of the month. Maybe we'll see a summer promotion like last year where the data is temporarily doubled.

If they do decide to up their mobile data on the $19 plan I may have to move back! :D

Ditto. I miss carry-over data since I shifted to Skinny, as I don't have the ability to bank it for when I'm away from wifi for extended periods such as when on holiday.

I've seen nothing re data doubling for existing clients, and there's nothing on their website, so assume it's an enticement offer...

When they're bleeding money they can't afford to give everything away for free.

I don't even think I will be banking any leftover data even with 1GB!

we should be able to cash up minutes for data. i have a work phone which i can call on but have bugger all data.
I'd glady trade 200 minutes or so for 500mb of data

Agree, a nudge upwards would work for me too.

I didn't imply that they should give everything away for free, just to keep up the competitive spirit. If they're bleeding money, they shouldn't go into hibernation mode, quite the opposite, this is the time to actively retain their loyal customer base first then start acquiring new ones.

giving loyal customers good deals isnt in a telco's vocab.

they  would rather give free phones. double data deals etc etc to the fickle "new" customers that change telco's as fast as they change undies... it really %^&$'s me that being loyal to a company gets you shafted rather than rewarded. i was with one telco for ten+ years and never once got any sort of a deal while my friends chopped and changed every five minutes and got new phones etc etc ...

giving a loyal customer say $100 a year in loyalty points is a good idea so after a few years they'll have points towards a new phone upgrade etc.
