The ping for anything other than the end node is irrelevant. Intermediate routers likely prioritise real useful traffic over ICMP (ping) type traffic.

Maybe. Though that is where my high ping is, all the other hops look to be just fine in terms of latency.

This is really off-putting as I am experiencing high latency in games even when playing on AUS/NZ servers.

My ping usually sits around 60 - 80 to AUS servers but now keeps shooting up to ~120.

The only thing that changed inside my network is that I went from wireless to wired (I checked and the high ping is present in both wired and wireless).

Haven't contacted snap support yet.

Can you try pinging the first hop from my trace routes?

Your first hops are both around 5ms for me. Seems to me there's some kind of latency caused by the physical connection.

I'm on spark and I'm seeing exactly the same thing. All first hops (and therefore subsequent hops) are 50-60ms higher than usual.

Edit: I'm VDSL in New Plymouth, 59/10 linesync DLM1.

I'm in Palmerston North, could be a central North Island thing.
