I checked a galaxy IMEI number to see if it had been blacklisted on the 2degrees website in the help section, this is where-

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/help/lost-or-stolen-phone

It kindly tells you that you can check any handset by texting 'check' and the IMEI number you want to check to 255, i got a reply back saying "the IMEI you sent is NOT currently blocked for use on the 2degrees network" the handset itself was secondhand, in its original box with manuals, and the barcodes and stickers one with the IMEI on it, it is mint condition hardley used and was restored to factory settings in front of me!

So after i did the "blacklist" check i bought it, i went and bought a sim swap and got my number transfered frm a standard to a micro sim, put it in the galaxy and it Wont connect to network (2degrees btw), so i rung customer support only for them to tell me that apperantly the handset is blacklisted! Ummmm WHAT is going on 2degrees? AND the IMEI checker on 2degrees help page is still right now saying its not blocked, please do sumthing 2degrees, I cant afford this muck up on your part, we should be able to trust the information givin by 2degrees website help pages!

Please help a poor person who has been mislead into thinking the phone was legit, and the customer service was so rude, telling me im stupid to be buying a second hand ph! Well I cant afford brand new! I was informed it was NOT blocked! I thought I could trust 2degrees! Im confused and very upset, apperantly someone frm 2degrees will be getting back to me within 24hrs, will they? Or is that pork pies too?, in the mean time i dont have a cell phone to use as i got my number transferd onto a micro sim which dosnt go into my old handset with the standard size sim, NOT COOL!

For all we know at the time you checked the IMEI it hadn't been blacklisted or the blacklist had not "synced" from the original network that blacklisted it.
IIRC The mobile networks only update their IMEI blacklist once a day so this wouldn't suprise me at all if the public one is updated even less.

This is no different to you buying a 2nd hand phone and then a week later it being blacklisted as the original owner reports it stolen / missing to their Telco.

Your best option is to try get your money back / let the police know you've bought a stolen phone or sell for parts (It's a very expensive paper weight otherwise)

But 2degrees "Edward" says that in front of him on his computer it says blacklisted that was early this afternoon he told me that, who knws how long its been saying that, coulda been way longer thn 24hrs coulda been weeks even, but the checker on the website is still telling me its not blocked! I just checked right now! Seems abit fishy to me, not fair! And when i asked what ph number they were gunna get back to me on, he sarcastically said "the one your ringing from" i asked him what the ph number was i was ringing from and then he told me he didnt know because he had just deleted it! Come on degrees far out! Thats why those help pages are there, im not a phone genius!

Unfortantly, There is little that can be done.

The system is in place to try and stop the sale of stolen phones. Only the original person who blacklisted the phone can request that it gets removed.

Where did you buy the phone?  Have you spoken to the seller for your money back?  How much did you pay and what phone is it?

Are you here just to:
a. randomly spout off and let us know how p'd off you are? or
b. actually comprehend that some people are trying to help you?

If it's a. - we got the picture after your first post.

If it's b. - stop doing a. and start acting on the advice given.
