Hi all,

I signed up for My Republic this week. Pretty excited to finally get some fiber but I have a few questions.

  • Can the fiber be run inside existing copper ducting to save digging up the driveway? Perhaps somebody from enable could advise.
  • How long does the install take from sign up date?
  • are you running untagged or tagged vlans?
Anyway, get ready guys. I'll be pushing it to the max once it's on!

1) That's up to the LFC, and the RSP has no say over the install.  The answer should be the same for all RSPs.  And (despite what some of the LFCs imply), you have some say over the installation method, location, and such.  Don't be afraid to tell them how you'd like them to do it.
2) We are seeing LFC install times of 4-6 weeks.  But I've mainly been looking at our Chorus installs, as that's the most common.  Not sure if the other LFCs have vastly different times.
3) untagged

Push it.  Push it real good.

Sounds good to me. I plan to document the whole install also. Yesterday we were contacted by Enable and they will be coming around on Tuesday.

We signed up to MyRepublic last week and Enable came around today to do the scope. Shouldn't be too long before it is installed, really looking forward to those 100/20 speeds over UFB with MyRepublic!

I signed up on the 30th November. Got a confirmation email saying LFC would be in touch to arrange install process etc... and the entire process on average takes 2-3 weeks.

After not hearing anything for two weeks. I emailed MyRepublic last night to see how things were progressing.

I received a call this morning saying the scheduled the planning stage of install to begin on 8 December but have now pushed it back till 22nd Jan. Apparently I should have received a call prior to the 8th and also when they postponed the install but received nothing. I'm a bit disappointed that I now have to wait till end of Jan but i guess thats life.

I do find it a bit on the nose that MyRepublic deducted the $50 deposit for the router on the 30th. Yet I will have nothing to show for it for at least 2 months.

The existing copper conduit would normally be Chorus won't it? If so, Enable can't use it as it belongs to a different company. I think this is the case anyway.

I just hit day 80, and I've had the site survey from transfield.  Apart from a system glitch at the start that lost me about 14 days the myRepublic support seem to be doing a good job, but everything is taking an age.
