Currently with another provider (but in the Callplus group). Might look at moving to Orcon.
Truenet results look promising (and consistent) not to mention the national calling for a dollar more is something we need.

Cannot get fiber where we are yet and its anyone’s guess, since Enable aren’t exactly proficient in regular or accurate map updates. So VDSL it is.

Is there anyone here in Chch with VDSL and could provide information in:

Latency:

  • Sydney
  • Melbourne
  • LA

Throughput:

  • p2p
  • you tube / streaming services
  • steam / origin downloads

ISP Supplied Modem / Router:

  • How is it?
  • Wifi performance / distance?
  • How well does it sync?
  • Gigabit?

Also question for anyone working at Orcon.

  • Whats the policy if UFB does become available?
  • Is there any costs to upgrade or is the contract duration renewed etc?

Current provider is really good, I get 49ms to Sydney and have no problems with them, but need the national calling and Orcon looks to be faster on truenet.

Thanks.

I would also like to know...I'm thinking of switching to Orcon naked.

Anyone?
