Hi Guys

I have MR installed at my house and so far my results with Fibre TV are pretty hit or miss depending on what you stream on.
I have only tried a couple of different things so far, but this it what I have got working.

Netflix

Samsung 2012 Model Smart TV - No
Xbox 360 - No
Xbox One - Yes
PS4 - Yes
Panasonic 2014 Smart TV - Yes
Roku 3 - TBC
PC - Yes
Android - Yes (Galaxy Note 3)

HBO GO

PC - NO
Xbox One - NO
PS4 - NO APP OUT
Roku 3 - TBC
Android - Unconfirmed. Could not download App, not compatible with my Galaxy Note 3

Hulu Plus

Xbox One - YES
Xbox 360 - TBC
PS4 - YES
PC - YES
Android - Unconfirmed. Could not download App, not compatible with my Galaxy Note 3

I don't seem to be able to edit the top post now. I am hugely pissed off, my Roku 3 arrived today, and does not show any apps like Netflix and other US streaming services. When I try to add them from the Roku website I get told I am in the wrong region. Not happy at all. MR have told me that if one device works they all should work, they are wrong. I still don't have any working device in the lounge where we watch TV. I have called support, and they don't know what a Roku is, even thou it seems to be one of the most popular streaming devices. They also told me my Xbox must be configured wrong. I can assure you its not. Don't think I will be continuing my trial after the 3 months. The promised lower ping on the gamer plan is higher than Vodafone, my upload speed has dropped by 10Mbps and my download speed is also slower.

You should of brought a Amazon Fire TV

Oh and i thought you needed a USA cable accout to get HBO Go

Yeah turns out you do need cable for HBO, did not know that. They are changing that soon though :)

Netflix working fine on my Android phone running 5.0.0 Lollipop, and it's casting to my Chromecast (with google DNS redirected to MyRepublic's DNS) fine too. Image quality seems about the same as my old Orcon connection.

Thats good to know, maybe I will ditch the roku and give that a go then

I run a Chromecast (US), Roku 3, Roku Streaming Stick and as of this arvo, an Amazon Firetv stick, all on MR.

there are a few hooks in getting the Roku up working ( on any NZ ISP) but it sure works.

Have you had a Roku working before?

The trick I found ( after a few tries) was to ensure that you are in the US (vpn) when you create your Roku account ( with a US address ) before setting up the Roku itself. Once done, you'll find all your apps setup correctly. Note that some apps will still not work unless you set up accounts with them in the same way first. NF works fine though.

No I have not. I also created my account with a USA address. Do you have a xbox 360? Does netflix or other US apps work on that?

Thanks Stuzz it seems to have worked. The trick is to create your account using Hola turned on (the MR DNS settings just would not cut it) and also routing the google DNS hard coded settings. Not sure if it helped, but Im not going to risk changing them now.

If you're using the router they hand out, you can go into the settings, go under parental control, and use the DNS settings to force the Roku (and only the Roku) to use the My Republic DNS, while letting everything else through as normal. You can also set it to the router (which will be My Republic DNS unless you set it manually), or any of a variety of DNS you choose.

So I'd suggest forcing the Roku to use the MR DNS using that and just leaving it on - it's how I'm doing my Chromecast's DNS.

Where abouts in parental controls would you do that? all I see are details for which computer has a schedule for accessing the internet. I have the ASUS RT-N56U with the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.376_3637-g7e47dd7.
