Hey,
Need some advice as pretty stuck at the moment.  I had a Spark prepay sim which I moved to 2degree prepay last night which seemed to go fine, I did the move steps and got up this morning and my phone was working on 2 degrees with my old spark number.
Anyway, was a work and I send the wife an iMessage and she replies saying its come as a different number.  I check iMessage on my iPhone 5S and yep its listing the 2degree number which came with the sim card.   Weird!
I look in the phone settings and find its took the 2 degrees number, even though when I tried a call from the phone it gave me the correct one.  So I change this number to my correct ported one, but I cannot get iMessage to recognise it.
All day it just kept coming up with the 2 degrees number and would hang on "waiting for activation".  So far I have these:-

 

  • Turn Off iMessage/FaceTime/iCloud on both my iPhone and Mac
  • Change phone number in phone
  • Restart phone
  • Leave phone off for 1hr
  • Reset Network Settings
  • Reset All Settings
  • Restore phone from backup
  • Tried on 2 wifi networks and cellular
Nothing is working.  Its now at the point where iMessage/Facetime only show my iCloud email. No number shows up at all now and it just sits at Waiting For Activation.    I called 200 and talked them through it and all they could suggest was leave my phone off for 24hrs?!  eh?

Anyone else got any suggestions because at the minute I'm dead in the water from a text message perspective.

Hi Andy,

Are you still seeing the 'Waiting for activation' error message? Normally it's immediate but can sometimes take a single manual input of your number and it should register.

Are you able to call out from the number without any problems? We'll want to make sure the port request is completely closed although it's likely Data Support have done this.

It may also be connected to your timezone settings. Try selecting your time and date option in general settings and disable the auto set-up option. Make sure your local city is selected and close your iMessage and Facetime applications. Reboot the phone and give it a try. You can also try deregistering iMessage as above but if you're not having any luck, PM us your ported number, phone make and model and OS and we'll check it out.

Forgot to answer this, sorry.

Turns out that something funky had gone on with the move and the whole text message/sms part hadn't migrated correctly.  I couldn't recevie plan old text messages on my old number and doing the imessage deregister didnt work because no text would get through.   2 degrees were looking into it when I suddently got my texts through and then imessage worked, about 72hrs after the port.
