I note that 2D has just pushed out an update to the Samsung Galaxy S3, which my phone is nagging me to install. Does anyone know exactly what this is, as I can't find a change log, and their website is annoyingly non-specific:
"Maintenance upgrade process for Samsung Galaxy S III
Samsung have released a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S III. As this update contains a number of enhancements for your device, it is recommended you download and upgrade.
Prior to starting the update process it’s a good idea to ensure you have at least 50% battery remaining and to also back up your data. This software update is approximately 21MB in size and the upgrade process will take around 5 minutes.
To update your handset simply navigate to Settings/About device, select Software update and follow the prompts."
I was hugely annoyed by the last update they pushed out - which, among other things, slowed my phone's performance markedly, made battery life worse, and automatically installed a lot of unwanted and un-removable bloat (TVNZ on demand etc). Also, it was irreversible, so I couldn't revert to the better prior OS version. I still wish I hadn't updated.
After my experience last time, I'm reluctant to let them install any update without knowing what it is and what the downsides might be.
I also note that I don't appear to be able to refuse the update - the only options seem to be to install it or to postpone being nagged to do so again for up to three hours, which is very obnoxious behavior on 2D's part.
