Last weekend was the annual Art Deco weekend (been going on for 26 years) here in Napier. Its a popular event, so there was lots of people in town.

And the event seem to have taken 2degrees by surprise (or was completely overlooked). When in town during the event it was completely impossible to use mobile data via my phone.

Last year we had what I would guess was the same amount of people in town, and I had no problems. But that was with Vodafone.

I really hope 2degrees get better at planning for events and making sure that there is enough capacity in their network for these types of events.

Hi Jarledb,

Sorry for any congestion, we didn't overlook the Art Deco festival, we just didn't have any spare kits. Something to do with a couple of cricket games ;)

I've sent your comments up to our network team, in future you can try locking onto our roaming partner to see if there's less congestion and better speeds.

Cheers,
^ER

Just to jog everyones memory, the only areas you can't force a roam is Auckland, Wellington and maybe christchurch? Everywhere else afaik you should be able to.
