Hey knowledgeable folk.

I'm considering Snap UFB as an alternative to Voda/TCL cable.

Anyone care to give an opinion on the quality of their service and what their support is like?

Feel free to propose alternatives too.

Have had their VDSL for 2.5 years with no outages that I remember. Only called their support once and had a good experience.

We used the FritzBoz purchased from them in late 2012 for a few weeks then sold it. We didn't have any issues but the VoIP capabilities conflicted with our own VoIP system, and at the time the VoIP could nto be completely disabled in the FritzBox. Bought a Draytek router instead and have had zero issues.

The fritz's had a few bad firmwares.

for UFB, you will want to make sure you have the latest firmware.

Aside from that, snap did have IPv6 issues, but that is a little inconsistent between if your likely to be affected or not and Can be disabled.

When i was on vdsl, i was very happy with my fritz.

We use Snap for VOIP at home and at work with no issues. At home, we use a FritzBox. At work we have a separate SIP device from the Siemens dealer.

I am with Snap and after a few teething issues, which were apparently due to 'growing pains' in their support department, I haven't had an issue since. I started with the Fritz but soon sold it as it was unable to consistently hand out assigned IP addresses via its DHCP server. For no reason it would decide to hand out a different address, even tho there was an entry for that MAC address. I have a pretty complex home automation system and many devices are accessed by IP address so this was a show stopper for me.

I think the Fritz is a good all-in-one router, but if you want to do anything clever or use advanced networking features I would steer clear. Better to get something specifically designed for the job - like a Draytek VDSL modem + Mikrotik router + Unifi WIFI APs + dnsmasq (which is what I ended up going for).

Also had to move off Snap VOIP as they refused to hand over my SIP authentication details so I was unable to configure my own VOIP server with them. 2Talk has been great for that side of things.

I'd recommend snap.

I did have initial installation issues which were partly snaps fault and left me without internet/phone for a bit over a week.Snap could have resolved my problems earlier but they ranked their 'procedure' as more important than getting my fault fixed quickly. I thought they could have done much better because my 'IP' phone was out due to this too.

I think in general it is wise to plan that you 'might' lose all internet / phone for up to 8 or 9 days. This is not isolated to snap, it can happen with any isp due to complex systems and a multitude of failure points.

Snap call waiting times used to average 20-30 minutes a a year or 2 back, but, maybe they've improved since the last time I called them they answered pretty quickly.

Snaps network performance equals or exceeds telecom when I was with them. Noticed a couple of odd slowdowns but very infrequently and for short periods.

Snap's UFB performance is great (mind you I'm only on 30/10).

I think there's been maybe 3 outages in the past 12 months that I remember, which were automatically resolved in less than 30 minutes. Nothing's perfect heh.

I think I have an older supplied FritzBox model where the Wi-Fi is a bit crap at times, but that's not really Snap's fault. I think newer, better models are offered now?

But yeah, if the pricing looks good to you, I certainly recommend Snap's service.

Moved from TCL cable a year ago and was on 130/20 down 150gig cap I think it was. Moved to 30/10 UFB unlimited (no longer available). Have totally not looked back. Speeds fantastic we game, youtube, stream and download with zero issues. I have never had to do a modem reset when the TCL one needed all the time. Do miss the tv side as in some ways was better that sky direct which now have.

My experience with Snap has been great. Issues have been fixed quickly and support staff I have been in contact with has known their stuff.

I have not had a single issue with Snap's ADSL2 (only issues I caused with router config) The 3 times I had to call them my call was answered in less than 5 minutes and their support was amazing.
Fully recommend them.
