Off to a bad start...

Decided to pick Orcon for new home I'm moving to at the end of the month.
Called to check notice period : "10 working days"
OK, sounds like I should order now.

(Note, I'm new-ish to NZ and staying with family so no existing service/number to move)

I go to this page and under INSTALLATION AND WIRING I select "Request a specific date for your connection."
Date I enter is 30/3/15, 3 days after I get the keys. A Monday.

When I get to the final page, after entering all other details, I see:
"Requested connection date at your new address: 13/03/2015"

I've done this 4 times now.
Your website is giving me the CAPTCHA treatment it's getting as fed up with me as I am of it.

"Maybe it's a Javascript bug", I thought being a techie? I'm using Safari on a Mac.
Switched to Firefox. Nope. Exact same problem.

Shame as I had found a telephone number I really liked....

better early than late I say.
Why don't you call them up and see what they say?

Is the problem the date format?  If so the website needs tweaking.

I've flagged this to the software team to look at but it will be tomorrow - meantime I'd suggest you enter the order, then ring Support and ask them to flag to Provisioning to move the RFS date manually to the one you wanted.

alliao: better early than late I say.

Actually no.
I'm buying a home and the settlement date is the Friday the 27th.
Having Orcon turning up before that date would be a bit rude I think.

I did, this morning.
Spoke to "Daniel" who, when I explained the web site problem, went away for a couple of minutes leaving me on hold and then came back and tried to sign me up.
I say "tried" to sign me up as I like the fact that website lets you pick your own telephone number, the sales guys don't.

So I thanked him for his time and said I'd leave it for now.
Looking around Orcon's website I get the feeling that unless you are a customer already with an account then there's no way to raise issues with them.

Good stuff. I'll check back over the next couple of days to see if it's fixed.
I'm well within my "10 days notice" to get it on the date that I want it.

I thought of that but, no, why should I?
It's a lot of hassle for me and I'd hate to think that Orcon would turn up while the current owners are still resident due to "mis-communications".
Better to start off on the right foot I think with an unambiguous contract.

Confirmed fixed. I've signed up.

No "bounty" for finding business critical bugs in your customer sign up front end?
Those TV ads won't be cheap and if I was paying for them I'd like to think the sign up form on the website was working perfectly...

not my call I'm afraid, thanks for the heads-up, this was the only report I saw of it, I guess most customers go with the default suggested date.

That's not going to deter me from pointing out the bugs in your network once you've got me hooked up.
