Also curious about battery life connected with email and 20 or so web browse events in a day.

Main thing is take off the back cover. That will give you name of device and WiFi connection code. Once you turn on tthe device look for the device as an available network in the device you wish to connect to and enter the network connection code
You are then away. You should only have to do this once for each device as networks are remembered. I have had no issues with battery life however I do usually leave Usb connected so probably not the most reliable judge of battery life

I managed to setup my Vodafone branded 3g router on 2 Degrees using the info in thread I have linked, might be of some use

Found.

Connect, then http://192.168.1.1 > settings > dial up > mobile connection > turn on. Enables automatic data network connection.

I can only wonder why that is not default setting.

Default user & pass: admin, admin.
