After many years of (albeit reasonable) ADSL2+ I am moving house, and it turns out the new place is eligible for UFB.

The new place has a long, gravel driveway which has a wall along one side and a fence on the other.

The Chorus scoping guy called today. He said they'd clip the cable along the wall beside the driveway, then do a trench across to the main house.  There's a second "granny" flat as well, they will run the cable up to it at the same time (but won't complete the internal works - I will provide internet via a cat5e cable from the main house).

Looking forward to see how this goes.  I ordered a VDSL install at the same time in case it gets held up, install was requested for both on May the Fourth (be with you) but now I must wait for the next call from Chorus (the install team) to confirm a date and timeframe for install.

I'm half considering trenching the driveway, but I guess provided I am there to make sure they clip the cable nice and low on the wall, and paint it after, it may not be worth the bother.

I'd dig the trench, especially if you ever have thoughts of concreting the driveway.
