Hi all

UFB connected via WAN port of Energy Imports TriplePlay150. Two issues:

1. The print server does not appear to work. Is this feature actually available? Are there firewall issues in the modem? The LAN firewall is turned off.

2. This modem those not appear to allow IPSec passthrough where my previosu VDSL Energy Imports modem did. Does anyone know if this is the case? I certainly can't connect via IPSec to my work network making the modem useless to me and I will be politely asking Slingshot to fund a modem that I can use (which appear to be about $700).

Any advice gratefully received.

Why would you expect your ISP to fund a modem for you just because it doesn't have a feature you want? There are plenty of far superior routers with WAN port and IPSEC passthru for a fraction of that price that you could easily go and purchase yourself.

Hello

No, the cheapest modem  I can kind with VOIP support is https://nicegear.co.nz/routers/draytek-vigor-2130vn-broadband-router/

I would expect the ISP to provide a product that is fit for purpose - the Tripleplay150 does not appear to be so. My previous 5 modems have been able to do passthrough. The last two were supplied by Slingshot.

Thanks for the helpful comments regardless.

Netcomm NF4V is $300 cheaper than that new, or you could buy something like a Cisco SRP521W or SRP527W second hand for less than $100 that's got far better functionality than both of those devices but if FE only rather than Gb.

I don't want to sound rude but you've signed up for a residential ISP and been supplied with a router for a residential service. 99.9% of users would not need IPSEC support. If this was critical, then it's something you should have checked with first, rather than making an assumption. The Tripleplay is a cheap as chips low cost device aimed solely as an all-in-one for residential users.

Quite simply there is not a chance in the world you're going to get Slingshot to provide you with a $800, or even a $500 router for free.

Hello again

Your aren't really succeeding in the not being rude thing. I came here for technical assistance and you aren't giving any. The discussion I have with Slingshot is my problem and my assumption was that my ISP would provide a usable service as they have for the last 11 years. Regardless, thank for for pointing me towards the Netcomm box which is far cheaper than the Draytek. Cheers.

For everyone else, can anyone confirm that the 150 does not do IPSec pass through and are there any workarounds?

And finally the fallacy appears - you've come here for technical support, which you are in no way entitled to, and are complaining in such a way that implies you feel that you ARE entitled to it. No one here (as far as I'm aware) is being paid to support you through your issues, it's almost exclusively an altruistic act.

In any case, if you have specific requirements for a modem, it's absolutely the case that you should be expected to supply the modem/router that is suitable yourself. Slingshot are a RSP - Residential Service Provider. They provide a service, and the modem/router is generally a bonus to simply that for the average consumer with minimal demands.

I'd recommend you look into investing in and setting up a suitable modem like has been suggested, or consult with your work regarding getting something suitable set up, because if it's required for your work, your work should probably be helping you out at least a little bit.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Going by the manual via the below link it supports routing etc and has builtin VPN/IPSEC. I would email the supplier direct via their contact page.

It definitely has an IPSec page in the web interface, but I have no idea whether it does everything the OP is demanding.

Resolved the IPSec issue. Go to Advanced Settings > NAT > Port Triggering

Open an entry for IPSec UDP protocol port 500. Problem fixed. Thanks to Energy Import guys for the fix. They were very helpful.

Still working on Print Server
