I have an on-account 2degrees mobile. The time allowed before it diverts an incoming call to voicemail is too short. I have seen traffic about arcane sequences of digits to change this delay starting with **61.. , but it's obviously provider specific.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what this is for 2 degrees.

Hi

Try entering the USSD code -

**61*64222022000**30# which will set the response to 30 seconds. Adjust the *30# if you want it sooner, but it has to be in steps of 5. i.e.

**61*64222022000**25#

Thanks, worked a charm. I had actually googled and found that exact sequence mentioned, but my brain added a "+" before the "64" when I tried it. Good to have it confirmed.

There's an option on the voicemail platform to not record a message (ie play outgoing message only).

Samsung Note20 Ultra, on 2degrees

Yes you can turn it off by dialing 202 and selecting option 3 (Settings) then option 8 (turn off). The caller will get a message that voicemail is turned off. If you want it completely removed, pm us your name, number and 4 digit security PIN or call Care on 200.

1. What is the max duration of ringing before reaches the voicemail?

2. By using your above method, how often can I change this setting of the ringing duration?

Max is 30 seconds and I am sure 2degrees default is 20 seconds

I have since replaced the phone I had when I asked this question 3 years ago. My phone then was a Samsun s4 from 2Deg, and after the display died I bought a refurbished S4 mini.

Never again.

The phone seems to have started life with AT&T, and although its a good phone, among the major drawbacks are:

- It won't allow tethering.
- It won't update past the version of Android that was on it (4.4.2).

..and I just tried the magic number to increase the voicemail diversion timeout, and that doesn't work either. I get "couldn't get server response".

I guess I'm stuck with the "divert to voicemail when the recipient is 2 metres from reaching the phone" option.

Try this code instead: *61*+64222022000**30#

You can query the result after by dialing *#61#

If it still fails on your device you can always quickly put your SIM in a different phone to send the GSM code then change the SIM back straight after.

Nope, same result. Didn't like the *#61# query either, that also gave the same response.

I'll try swapping out the SIM

SIM can't cause this issue as it's only used to ID subscribers onto the mobile network

No, it's stored on the HSS (a network component) hence you can send the command and it'll remain in place even if you swap device / SIM.

So what would be different if I were to put my SIM into my mate's NZ-new phone and dial the magic number ? I.e. what would change in terms of what is sent to the network?

The device would be different. If it works in a different device you know your at&t device is somehow modifying something on the command(s) (or not correctly acknowledging the response). If it doesn't work in a different device then it could signify a provisioning issue at the MNP (2degrees) end.
