Has anyone managed to get a Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD working on Orcon UFB?

It is simply DHCP on VLAN 10 IIRC

Tthat is what I thought also but it doesn't seem to work; the same setup works fine on a non-Orcon connection.

About a year ago I set up a http://routerboard.com/CRS226-24G-2SplusRM on Orcon UFB.
Nothing too much to it. Just created a VLAN10 on the right interface. Attach a dhcp client to the vlan10 interface, and away you go.
Then make sure you apply any firewall rules to the vlan10 interface, but not the raw interface.

Definitely worked for me. I don't think the hardware difference would be important. RouterOS is all the same.

FYI: CRS Series are designed as a switch 1st and router 2nd. Typically they will show a 10% CPU load just to service the switch chip. Interestingly the CRS125 series have a faster router cpu (600MHz) than the higher CRS226 (400MHz) - even though the CRS226 support 10Gbps Fibre ports :-)

Indeed, but as orcon UFB isn't pppoe but dhcp, there's very little load even when doing 100mbps routing.

Just saying was all :-)

If DHCP you could try the new Fasttrack and see if it improves firewall performance. I would love to get some real stats from fibre users as to how it improves ?

Currently, on v6.29.1 you can't get fasttrack with vlan nor ppp, but it's coming if a single forum post is to be believed.

I have the firewall rules to enable it, it shows IPv4 Fasttrack Active as ticked, yet no packet counts.

What's new in 6.30rc19 (2015-Jun-12 11:45):

removed most of the new stuff but here is the new stuff re fastpath/fastrack .........

*) fasttrack - added dummy firewall rule in filter and mangle tables to show packets/bytes that get processed in fasttrack and bypass firewall;
*) fastpath - vlan interfaces support fastpath;
*) fastpath - partial support for bonding interfaces (rx only);
*) fastpath - vrrp interfaces support fastpath;

Well, that worked :) too bad I didn't run a test prior to the update but my 951-2n (as supplied from a MTCNA class) hits 10% CPU during a speedtest.net download @ 27.5Mbps

I picked a popular torrent from a random site and again, 5-10% usage for up to 3MB/s for 270 connections

What about the same test with the Fastrack turned off ? It would be good to see what actual difference it makes on your connection :-)

ditto ... But read above for the answer :). (NAT isn't a limitation, only PPPoE and vlan in the current ROS)
