Whilst speaking to an Orcon rep today about a change in my plan he said that as of today global mode was no longer a service offered by Orcon and that he couldn't discuss it, for what sounded like legal reasons.

Anyone else come across this ?

I'm on a small isp that has always offered global mode, even after others stopped. It also promoted the fact on its website. I just tried it and it is no longer working and now there is no mention of it on the website. Looks to me like it is definitely gone, probably everywhere. My guess is that some kind of interim judgement in the lawsuit has required everyone to stop offering global mode or even mentioning it. Of course this does not affect overseas proxies and the like, so most of us probably just haven't noticed the change.

Very hastily removed from Slingshot, their page is split into thirds in regards to slingshot bonus', and now 1/3rd is missing (where global mode used to be)

If they stop the service they're going to piss off a lot of people!

I've heard Callplus have settled with the media companies. As part of that settlement Global Mode will be withdrawn for existing customers by September.

using unblock-us here,  works just fine no issues as always.

once again, something paid for is better than something free.  :)

going to be lots of unhappy slingshot (and other ISP) customers, especially if they have withdrawn it with no notice and without even emailing their customers.  That seems a very odd thing to do.

There really needs to be some user comms around this, after they were so public in their stance that it was completely legal, they can't just pull it silently.

If a judgement has gone against them it's a major blow for internet freedom in NZ

looks like all the facebook posts on their pages referencing global mode have also been removed, which means their FB pages looks pretty damn sparse now since they mentioned it so often.

pretty sure it won't be any judgement,  the trial doesn't start for ages and we would surely have seen an announcement if there was any injunction or similar, instead of complete radio silence (although maybe something will be forthcoming tomorrow)

They probably received an injunction to stop the service being offered until the court has made it's decision

They haven't been very thorough - https://help.slingshot.co.nz/About-Us/44640964/What-are-Slingshot-s-DNS-addresses.htm still mentions Global Mode, but the link is broken
