Gidday all,

Due to a rather unfortunate incident my old Note 2 recently bite to dust and the lovely insurance people gave me a Note 4 to make up for it. It's a 2 degrees Note 4 SM-N910U brand new from Noel Leeming's with 2 degrees firmware as stock and running Android 5.0.1.

The issue I'm having is that I can't connect to 2 Degrees 4G/LTE. I'm stuck on HSPA+ while my old Note 2 could get 4G in all the places I've tried (I'm currently sitting in the ChCh CBD within sight of a 2 Degrees tower which I usually get 4G from).

So far I've:

  • Installed the most recent software update that automatically downloaded when I first set up the phone
  • Synced it with Kies and checked for new firmware: shows using latest
  • Checked and re-entered APN settings
  • Turned off-on/flight mode/removed battery/presented it from a cliff face to all my adoring minions - with nil change
  • Checked my CSC which shows: N910UNZC1BOC2 (which according to sammobile is one of the two latest firmware's [both released on same day - unsure on difference?])
  • Tried my Sim in other phones (inc. its predecessor which still sort of functions) - all show and use 4G
  • Checked Network Mode which shows: LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
  • Checked Data Roaming is enabled
Is this just a case of waiting for on OTA update from 2 degrees to activate 4G or am I missing something obvious? The phone is currently stock and I'd like to keep it that way this time (my previous phone was a Frankenstein of sorts in the end). Considering the phone is listed on 2 Degree's site as 4G enabled, supports every band under the sun and is running 2 Degree specific firmware I'm somewhat surprised it just doesn't 'work out of the box'.

Please excuse me if I've missed something obvious, I'm nearing the end of Night Shifts...

Cheers

Edit: Corrected spelling of NL

I'd try going over APN's a few dozen more times, Checking for anything even remotely out of place like an extra dot, space or www that is not supposed to be there. Try with settings off another phone as well as their site.

(the reason I say this is because I have seen people who's job it is to tell others how to fix this and other issues repeat this same mistake over and over again)

Cheers for your suggestion. I had a bit of spare time overnight so I went through all the options again after I posted including re-entering the APN's both manually and using the 2 degrees configuration service, both to no avail. I'll keep googling away, TA

Update: was out in Rangiora this afternoon and low and behold got full 4G with associated speed increase. As soon as I got back into Chch we were back to HSPA+ in what should be full 4G coverage area... will bug 2D when I have the energy. Cheers
