Flip state you you need a VDSL2+ modem if you want to connect to their VDSL service in their "Buy or BYO modem" area.  https://flip.co.nz/what-you-need-to-know/

In addition they say they can sell you one here. http://support.flip.co.nz/hc/en-gb/articles/204734070-What-type-of-modems-do-Flip-offer-

I've had a client ask me about this, and my research shows that no such animal exists yet. Maybe I'm too old and got this all wrong?

I thought Chorus provide VDSL2 and that's what Flip are reselling? Has some marketing guru got ADSL2+ and VDSL2+ mixed up maybe?

Simple error I guess for a marketing team.

are you just concerned that they have a + after the VDSL2?

both terms are commonly used and a VDSL2+ device works on a VDSL network so yea

look at most other ISP's they just call it VDSL

I'm concerned that a client was told that they specifically need a VDSL2+ modem, and I'd never heard of this except on Flip's site.  Where is the term VDSL2+ commonly used elsewhere, apart from sites that probably don't actually know what they're saying?

I imagine they simply think the '+' means "or higher', when in DSL land it typically denotes an extension of the original standard.

Definitely a marketing mistake (ie, mine). As it's next iteration of ADSL 2+ technology.

We will get the '+' removed today.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I found the same problem looking at the FAQ section of the VDSL pricing page " At Flip, pretty much any VDSL modem/router will work as long as it's VDSL2+ compliant. You can find that out in the manual, it's also usually on the box somewhere. ADSL modems will not work. " It had me stumped cause I haven't seen VDSL2+ modems anywhere this post cleared it up cheers.

Whoops, we'll get that updated! Can you link me to the article you've spotted?

I've found this one: http://support.flip.co.nz/hc/en-gb/articles/204486914-VDSL-Upgrade-How-much-does-it-cost-and-how-long-will-it-take- which references "VDSL2+" but the content seems to be different to what you've quoted, so I'm worried there might be another one hiding somewhere. :)
