Okay I am going to go on a Prepaid Combo but need a little information on how to use data and how it works and about calling a 2 degrees phone for free on selected prepaid plan.

Data - I have so much Data allocated each month. When I want to use the data side of things do I switch it on through the phone - use whatever then when done switch it off when not needed? Worried that apps may download in background.

I will use some data just now and again.

Unlimited calls to 2 degrees mobiles* Included in the plan.
Does that mean as long as they have a 2degrees number? and if there number was ported over to 2 degrees is that included also? example 021 ported to 2 degrees.

Thank you!

Yes you can turn the data on and off through your phone if you want.

2 degrees mobiles means a number that is being "serviced" by 2 degrees so includes 021, 027, 0204 etc numbers that are ported to 2 degrees.  DOES NOT include any 022 numbers ported to other providers.

Thanks for that! I do have it switched to apps only use data over wifi so that SHOULD take care of that.

I would like a good app to keep track of my usage from app store - are they any good? free apps with adverts bad idea? and what are some good ones?

If I buy my Father a phone set him up on 2 degrees but he runs out of credit on the phone can I still call that number free?

I'm guessing you are using an iphone as you mention app store.  You are right it should stop data use but as I'm an Android user I can't help answer that question.

You can still call a phone if it has run out of credit.  You'll only strike a problem if the phone is left too long before topping up and gets disconnected.

Hi, and welcome to 2degrees!

While we don't have free phones on Prepay when you buy a phone you get a scratchy which gives you a code to get a free $19 Carryover Combo. :)

Thanks to the other posters for chipping in on the data advice. Here's some more advice that may help - Manage your data

Data packs help make your data $$ go further.

Consider Skinny prepaid plans instead, they are cheaper than 2degrees - $16 vs $19 per month for the mainstream one, and more flexibility in other options.

If you're a small user then Skinny has a $9 / month plan as well..

Does the Vodafone Prime 6 the OP has actually support 850MHz UMTS for Spark/Skinny?

It's new enough you'd hope so. The OP will have to check IMEI # with Skinny.
