I recently moved from my previous adsl provider to MyRepublic. One of the things they advertise is the ability to transfer the current phone over. My phone number was moved 8 business days ago, and I still do not have a working phone line. Several calls and online "support" messages later it's still no working. I have been told it is an issue between the ONT used by Chorus and some MyRepublic setup and their "engineers are looking to resolve it asap"
That's nice... but in the meantime they are still advertising phone as a service. I suggest to anyone thinking of moving to MR, who may want to use a phone, to call them first to see if it's resolved.

Had I known this was going to happen, I would not have moved to MyRepublic and would have used an alternative provider instead.

Sounds like there's a problem with your particular phone line. No need to take everyone else down with you.

We had MR installed yesterday, phone ported over from Spark, working the day they said it would.  Sometimes problems happen, I hope they sort it out for you asap.

MR have also told me it is happening to multiple customers. It's interesting that it's happening to some, but not all.

I use phone from MR & my install [in Jan] and cut over was flawless

When Transfield/Chorus did the install it did surprise them that they had to put the phone on the ONT which these particular technicians hadn't done before [as they expected it from the router] but they did it with aplomb

Curious as to the reason you switched, if you don't mind me asking?

Wireless Nation told me they could only supply fibre in Auckland and it was dearer than MR.
No choice, really.

Took a week to get my phone up and running when moving from Orcon UFB to MyR. The issue with mine was the ONT configuration as the phone line plugs into port4 on the ONT. I had a visit from UFF in trying to sort this out and we were at the stage of replacing the ONT, then someone did something and it worked. Configuration is difficult for some. I am not sure if MyR have any access to the ONT, Chorus will need to fix this with MyR help of course.

Just keep chatting to them online, and ask them to redirect the number to your mobile in the mean time. At least that way you won't miss calls.

Hi I had my fibre install completed Thursday/Friday, was a very messy and stressful experience.  Mostly due to Transfield/Chorus and duct problems in the right of way, I signed up 29 April.  If the install had been straight forward like my neigbours then it would have been completed within two weeks, instead almost three months.

I've had a few days off, when they were going to do the install, and messed up.  One day three techs turned up one after the other to push a snake down the duct thinking it had been repaired, but it hadn't.  Last week no one turned up at all, as their system had the duct logged as still faulty, yet a cable had been run to the house outside connection point.  They did not contact my provider to let us know that they weren't coming.

I am with My Republic, phone was connected on the day of the install Thursday, but net took until late Friday, while Chorus "completed the build".  The call clarity and internet connection is really good, so far.

I also made the mistake of ensuring that my number was ported over early, unfortunately this triggered cut off of existing service, and the line was physically disconnected and was a mission to get reconnected, with a temporary number.

My Republic set up a call divert to my cell, and it was a bit difficult to cancel the divert.

I was totally in the dark as to how existing analog phones would connect to ONT.

My ONT was installed in Kitchen/dinning area next to existing master phone jack.  The ONT has a Pots connection to replaced jack point with converter? to standard phone jack connection.  Thereby the ONT back feeds the old phone jacks for use with analog phones, although I have two cordless phone off the one base a main jack.

I have no other cable/wiring in the house so LAN 1 on the ONT feeds to adjacent router, a new Linksys WRT1900AC and this has patch cable connection to desktop and PS3.  Wifi serves smart TV, laptops, tablets, phones with no problem and seems to connect all areas of my property.

Not sure is connection speeds have been improved by My Republic or that I have upgraded my desktop pc hardware.
I was some what concerned at some lower speed test results, and wondering if I was getting what I paid for.  However now results are more consitant and pleasing.
