I'm in the middle of tidying up my old mans affairs (he has since died) and this includes trying to sort out his email. I cannot remember his email so I request an activation code for his gmail account and provided them with the phone number but the problem is that text messages aren't arriving to my phone. It is receiving messages from within New Zealand because I sent a message from my own phone but cannot a Google message.

Could be the wrong carrier in the profile. Was it always 2dgrees and do you remember ever working?

Try changing it from text to call, I had a similar issue and changing this fixed it for me

Yeah, always 2 Degrees, bought directly from 2 Degrees themselves. We've received messages from other networks (Spark my own one to 2 Degrees and vice versa). I'll double check the settings again just to be sure.

ah, ok - I'll do that next time. I requested it so many times that it ended up saying I have to wait till 21 July before I can try again.

It used to work for me, a year ago. Doesn't any longer.

Microsoft's has never worked.

Haven't tried recently as i use an app 95% of the time. However i stopped receiving 2FA messages from facebook, and no matter how many times i removed my number entirely or re added it, including months in between, the texts still don't arrive. Not that its anywhere near as important as a google account though.

Interesting thread, I'm on 2 degrees and one day text support just stopped, I got rather stressed as my gmail is rather pivotal to me so I eventually switched to voice call and it worked and have never changed back

We'll try to deliver the SMS if it reaches our network. Are your numbers ported in numbers or all 022?

So we can look into this please PM us your number, 4 digit PIN and when you sent this.

Cheers

Google verification texts also often fail on Spark on the first attempt. Typically if you try again the second one will arrive promptly as expected.

I've moved to using their one time password app because of this

For me it is a matter of closing off an old email address where I have forgotten the password - oh well.

Funny enough, never had a problem with my Spark account but then again it is a spark number so maybe that causes less problems.

Microsoft and Google text messages fail to arrive for me as well, so looks like its a bigger issue than just one person

I had some funny things happen with my gmail a year ago and switched to 2 factor authentication for a while.
I tried the SMS code to my mobile and that didnt work - didnt receive anything.
Set it to phone me (reads the code to you) and that worked fine.

I am on skinny with an 027 number - so wouldnt have thought its a porting issue.
You are not alone....

PS Was mucking about with windows 10 preview and did something with my hotmail account to sign in. Part of the process was to send a code by SMS to my mobile - It actually worked fine....

Hi xpd
Can you PM us with the details on when it last worked please? We'd need to know your number, time sent and time delivered?

If anyone else has details on this working, especially to ported in numbers.

Cheers
