We lost internet this morning when there was a lightning strike in our suburb.

I contacted Orcon and was told that they have a major outage in all of Auckland.

It is still not back on.

Hmmm, could that one strike on the North Shore really have taken out all of the city or is there more to it?

Anyone else on Orcon in Auckland able to comment?

Is your modem dead? Does it have sync?

Hate to say this, but it sounds like you got fobbed out :(
Their site shows no network outages across Auckland since the 19th.

In saying that though, I am seeing multiple faults around Auckland for loss of broadband - so it may be that your cabinet has been affected.
Perhaps they were confused or didnt explain it properly and are referring to the multiple cabinets disrupted from last nights storm....

No Major outages that I am aware of sorry.

If you are still having issues, its best you contact the Orcon helpdesk to get resolution.

Three days and no resolution.

I have been on to Orcon support several times a day since Sunday morning and there is no sign of resolution.

Please send me a PM with your account info and I'll make sure the team are still across this. Sorry for the trouble!

I am back.

It turned out that, as well as the cabinet problems after the storm, the dsl side of my Orcon supplied modem had failed.

That is actually a downside of an ISP that supplies a "free" modem. I could not go and buy one from PBtech and had to wait until today for Orcon to ship a replacement modem to me.

But it got here and the family are now back online and they have stopped complaining to me so I am happy.
