Not sure why this is but we did speed tests on all 3 mobile networks in our house in Birkdale (expecting 2-degrees to come in last) and we got totally surprised.

2-degrees got 61 mbit down and about 13mbit up (3-4 bars / 5, 4g)
Spark got about 20-30mbit down (2-3 bars) (4g coverage was off and on depending where you were in the house)
Vodafone didn't get any 4g converge.

Was this just blind luck? or is 2-degrees 4g coverage getting good around auckland? I didn't expect our area to get any 4g coverage being in a valley and all.

I didn't get a chance to take the photos of the other results so you will have to trust me.

While i can only quote Vodafone speeds, ill bite.

i dont run them often, they can eat into data plan a little more than i would prefer!

 These are from around Westgate.

side note, dont let opensignal run crazy accidentally while driving... when you stop and see that and the usage it does to get such a result you kinda freak!

I have misplaced some of my results, but atleast in my experience Vodafone Generally do well over 4G.

I have had some instances out parakai way where 4G has actually been so slow i was sure it was 3G..
Although to be fair, 3G dual cell is not to be skofed at here anyway (Rural waitakere/Bethells.)

in my testing, 2 degrees has identical preformance, however i dont borrow other sims to test that all that often!

i used to get 3 megabit on 2degrees, i managed to get 8 megabit the other day.  so maybe they're starting to improve their network a little.  still waiting for 4g coverage in auckland.

vodafone on dc hsdpa was a lot faster when using a stick with no 4g. (and a sim too big to stick in my phone)

in Albany I got around 14 megabit down with 4g on 2d.

This is my 4G standing on my balcony in Napier. Not too shabby. On 2degrees.

A single test doesn't mean a lot by itself, and at the end of the day raw speed is not really a measure of network performance. QoE is all that really matters at the end of the day. You can easily have a slower network that delivers a far better end user experience.

It's good to see some faster speeds from 2d. Due to their limited spectrum compared to Vodafone and Spark speeds on their network had historically not been that great. Unlike Spark and Vodafone they don't have the same amount of spectrum. Spark and Vodafone are both using 2600MHz spectrum and have carrier aggregation which will deliver up to 300Mbps real world. I know Vodafone have also been testing 700+1800+2600 carrier aggregation which delivers some pretty impressive real world results!

Thanks for posting! Great to see you're getting the fruits of team's efforts in getting more 4G goodness to more customers around the country.

Cheers!
