hi guys

to start off i had a ADT burglar alarm installed in my house years ago it is now disconnected at there end. a very good friend said to me that although its disconnected at there end it could still be causing issues with my connection since it is still powered up at my house it also still beeps and goes off occasionally. he suggested i call a sparky to get him to remove it from the mains so it can no longer send any signals my question to you is would this work or would it still cause issues if any and if it could be causing issues how bad could it actually be??

im with orcon on unlimited vdsl with phone line
i have attached a picture with my current line stats

to be honest i dont know i cant open the ETP to check as i dont have the right screw head but i forgot to mention that sometimes my connection will drop all together and i need to restart the modem to get it back i wasnt here when the technician setup my connection so cant be entirely sure on the master splitter

I think a phone line does go through the alarm, so yes it could be degrading your line - assuming no master splitter.

You don't need it removed from the mains, it can still be used as a noise maker, just needs to be removed from the phone line.

If you have one (installed correctly of course) then it should bypass the alarm, so that shouldn't cause any issues. Of course, sometimes the alarm line grabber gets wrongly installed on the xDSL side... This would usually result in regular disconnections at the same time each day.

Is the modem log show PPP drops, or xDSL disconnects, or just freezing up?

would it be worth my time to get the right screw head and check myself and then get one installed if i dont have it or just get the alarm removed and hope to see an improvement?

DSL stays solid no matter what its just the internet that drops
and it always happens at night

If DSL stays up, then it's unlikely to be a physical issue or interference - what modem are you using, does it have the latest firmware, and what are you using the connection for when it drops?

just using my ps4 or PC which i can run all day without a problem and im using the standard white orcon modem nfv4 from netcomm i think. one thing i noticed just before is errors popping up whenever i use the home phone
