Over the last month or so I have found on many occasions I have had an IP block on websites doing various things.

Browse from my bigpipe and same things work fine.

Most recent has been tigerdirect.com - just cant browse products or search on there. Drop wan and reestablig and get a111.69.231.x range and all is good on the same site as well.

Was there some history behind this IP range that would lead to everyone having it in some blanket block list?

I assume you're talking about mobile? That IP block is owned by "2degrees" instead of Snap. Since Mobile runs via CGNAT essentially it'll only take one dodgy customer to wreck it for everyone else.

Strange... I get a "Snap" IP still and always have on the 111.69.99.* range. That IP of yours is on the 2dm mobile block of IP's.

Hey guys,

This is pretty strange, I can't see an obvious cause right off the bat. I've logged a job with engineering to check it out and see if we can work out what's going on.

Cheers

It might be the DDOS attack mitigation system. When it gets triggered you loose international. (Or at least I lost access to the USA) Yet the block is only against your IP address. So dropping WAN or a router restart gets you a new IP and everything works again.

I only found out about this as I called them to say that I was having routing issues. They said that someone had been playing online games and it was their fault that the DDOS attacks were happening. They also said that it had happened twice and they would suspend my account if it happened again. Even though I had no idea and would have never have found out if I had simply tried restarting my router. (Silly policy as most people would simply see "internet is acting weird, Ill restart my router - That fixed it"). Yet they wouldn't initially tell me even basic things like the date and time of the attacks. When I finally got them to tell me the date and times of the attacks. They both had happened when the flatmate who plays games online was at work. And he says that he only plays on a private server (which he pays for the hosting of).

I think my problem was caused by the old XP computer in the lounge that had been forgotten about. Ex flatmate left it there. Turned out that uTorrent was running and there was a torrent that had been seeding for 8 months. (Hate to think of what other junk / nasties must have been on it). Switched it off and no problems since.

NB, all of this happened before 2deg bought Snap. But I presume the process is still the same.
