"The customer you've called has temporally disconnected their mobile service"

...so I skyped mum and asked her to call me back, from her mobile (which I think is vodafone).

so this morning I've just tried calling someone else and I'm getting the spark message this time.

Anyone else getting this?

Could you please explain what you've done and what was expected?

From your post it's not clear if this is you calling from a 2degrees number (the sub-forum) to a Vodafone number (in the post), or to a Spark number (in the headline).

Confusing.

MF sorry...  up until 3am fixing a network fault of my own...  just assumed that folk could read my mind.

My2DegPhone --> Mum - VF
My2degPhone --> RandomTrademeTrade - Spark I assume.

From my mobile I'm just getting told the customers aren't connected.

I haven't tried anything else.  Thought I'd just start with a quick post here to see if this was a common problem that others have seen.  I wasn't otherwise having issues using my phone to call people.

Are you saying you got the Spark message when trying to contact your Mum's mobile which is with VF?

sorry, no.

I did test that too.

I get a different message with each number.

I do get a spark message when calling one number.

Mum's VF service gives me a message that does not id the carrier.

I see, Your thread title suggests otherwise is all. I would suggest editing? 

Do you know if other lines can call your Mum's mobile OK? i.e can you call her from a landline? Guess that would at least isolate the issue to your line and can then get 2Deg to sort it out.

Also the Trade Me member's number you are trying to contact, have you contacted them before? Just in case they have given you the incorrect line number, that would explain that one.

So you cant call anybody?

Or just those people?

Can you call other numbers that are not mobiles?

Have you installed any weird apps on the phone that might be messing with dialing?

1 - I call all sorts of people.

2 - yes, just these two that i've discovered problems with

3 - not that I know of

I've provided PB the offending numbers.  They can look at their logs and see what the situation is.

This is a very interesting situation.  A decade ago I would have been very annoyed about this, but today I don't even care enough to ring the company, I just (very quickly, as you can see) whacked a random post on social media for help if anyone cares.

I just skyped mum and asked her to call me...  as I can do this on my 'phone'.  Random TM guy, I just didn't worry about following up with.  I was just going to ask him about buying something else off him.

A decade ago I would have been very concerned about the communication network being compromised.  Now it's just a small companies business that's compromised (in this case 2Degrees).  Getting stuff like this fixed used to be a problem.  Today reaching out is easy and they'll fix it fast or just loose me as a customer to another provider.  While companies like this don't care to much about the pittance of business that I can bring them, they do care about just how quickly the tide can change. 

Clearly this problem isn't a big one because we've had no one here jump in today and express that they've had issues to.  So clearly there's some random strangeness with my service this week. 

I do find it interesting that the technology has matured to the same ilk as other voice solutions now.  Skype used to not be so reliable and people had to have their computers on.  The seller for 'pstn' was it's ubiquity and quality.  But today I feel like it's starting to fail.  Skype has become so much more reliable and usable.  Email on my phone has also had a massive impact for me.

I dont even use the device I carry with me as a phone. Its just an annoying artifact of a billing system made for a previous era that I even have a "phone number" on it.
