Had a call from them today on the mobile from a real phone number to check if I was wanting to disconnect my internet or not.

Turns out the new neighbours put their order thru with the wrong address (again) so it was against my connection.

Many other ISPs wouldn't bother to call and just assume and make inconvenience for the person that loses their connection because of someone elses error.

And guess what happened to my bigpipe connection.... Sigh. Seem absurd that it is that easy to disrupt someones connection just by ordering a new one to the same address..

Not necessarily the neighbour's fault. At my old place, we were number 2/6 (on the street, not inside the subdivision). Next door to us was 6/2, and next door to them was 6/1. Inside the subdivision they had a whole bunch of /1s and /2s, and on the other side of the subdivision's driveway was the regular 1, 2, 3 etc. We were forever swapping mail with the neighbours.

For rating the addresses are the other way around because apparently in the old days the A house had to be at the back. Means that real esate never bother to check.

The number on the letterbox can differ from that on the official records.

So the neighbour will use the number on the letterbox but someone looking up the records from a computer could get a different property.

Used to happen occasionally when I worked in a bank. The postal address will be per the letter box but the address of the mortgaged property could be different.

A common example would be with the unit number. e.g. Letterboxes are 61A & 61B, but the official records have them as 61 & 61A respectively.
