I called 2degrees 2 days ago to ask them about moving to 2degrees. I plan to use 2talk on 2degrees, but the guy on the phone told me that 2talk might not work on 2degrees new fritzbox.
He didn't provide any support for this. He told me to email 2talk, but I got no reply

Can anybody here confirm this? Or is there a workaround that works?

Yes it does work (have done so before) however what is stopping you from porting your number across to 2degrees?

Company A not supporting a rivals products/services...?

In reality, it works (and continues to do so - I'm running this exact setup). It was pretty painless to get going. If you have problems with it, post here.  I'll go have a look at our setup (from memory, go into telephony and then add a new number, then plug in the details for 2talk).

Yes it will work but you can't expect to get any support from 2degrees for such a setup, hence their comments.

2talk don't respond to emails? You can form your own opinion of their product and support based on the hundreds of similar such comments on here. If you need assistance they're probably not the best option for a VoIP provider.

Hey Harrylin,

The others in this thread are correct, 2talk VOIP will work on our modems, however support through our helpdesk is limited for this, the team will be able to help with general questions about the device itself, but aren't able to help set it up or anything like that. It is pretty easy to set up, you'll just need to add a new line under Telephony and plug in the details that 2talk provide.

Thanks

Cool. That's all I need to know. Still need a local number just in case. Its handy to have a local number. I just don't want to ditch my local number just yet. I will port it to 2talk after my contract with slingshot, and port my broadband to 2degrees. They are the cheapest. Cheapest VoIP, plus cheapest broadband. Don't know why 2degrees broadband is cheaper than any other providers. Might be a price increase soon ?? If I sign up next month, will it still be the same price?

So as @michaelmurfy already asked, why not just port your number to 2degrees?

(I use 2talk, and have for a long time, but that's mainly because snap didn't offer voip when I signed up.  I do like having them seperate now, but if you're not sure about configuration, etc I would still think keeping them on the same provider makes sense...)

Because 2talk includes international minutes in the plan. 2degrees doesn't. I don't make a lot of calls. My wife Just need to ring overseas sometime

Fair enough then :)

I wouldn't imagine you'll have any issues. I've been running 2talk for my voip with snap/2degrees and through 2 different fritzboxes and it all worked flawlessly.
