Ok, so I applied last week for naked dsl - had to call them back to even find out when the install was happening. Told it was on monday. Monday came and a telecom tech called at 8:30 am and within a few mins had it cabled to the existing second socket in the house and it had DSL sync. All good so far except having no emails or contact from slingshot about when it was happening.

Anyway, It got sync but no PPP, so I call slingshot and check the password - it was wrong but they put it right, and could see the authentication requests on their end (they told me what password it was using so clearly they could see it) - they said that the order from telecom isnt complete and it would start to work and was told that the people that provision were there till 8.

So I call back at 7:30 on monday to see what the deal is (still no authentication, good thing the old flatmates orcon connection is still going) - apparantly the provisioning person that is needed leaves at 5, but it should be going tomorrow.

So I call back today at about 4:30 - get a helpful sounding person who was going to find what was up. But while on hold I end up being put back thru to some queue and get some unhelpful person on a shocking line with a thick accent. Anyway, same story, not provisioned yet, will happen in 24 hours, lame excuses as to why he cant get it done now, but he is putting notes on the account to say that I called. Apparantly it will be working tomorrow (waitangi day) and not to worry, there are people there that can fix it tomorrow if its not provisioned. We shall see I guess.

So anyway, what have others find with slingshots provisioning system, is this normal from them? Hold times have being good sofar at least

Well, we are on after calling again.

Still not a very good experiance as a user of it from the lack of communication from slingshot about the install date to the fact that noone seems to know why it takes so long to provision and when the people that can do it are in.

When I signed up with XNet they said it would be 4 work days, was up and running in 3.  That was April last year.  When I signed up for XNet nDSL a week ago they received my application on Monday morning and Thursday (after Waitangi) I was naked.  Friday my old Telecom number was customer linked to my VFX number and I expect that Monday the number porting will be completed.

Both times the sign up did not cost me a cent and I have no contract or data blocks.  That is customer support.

I referred a friend at work and he signed up himself and his ex-wife, both are happy (separate, but happy) with XNet.  They were with Slingshot and unhappy with their support.
