The answer is when you are on a old Snap plan.

I joined 2degrees mobile on a $29.95 monthly plan thinking, since i was on 2Degrees Broadband plan i would get the $10 a month off my plan as stated on the Website

"If you’re on 2degrees Pay Monthly & Broadband, you’ll get $10 off your monthly Broadband bil". I rang up 2degrees to tell them only to be told that since i was on a old Snap plan i dont qualify for the discount, even though im a 2degrees broadband customer. They said i had to cancel my plan and join the new 2gegrees broadband plan which worked out to be the same price.  I wish they made this clear on the website before i joined the mobile monthly plan. Has anyone else come across this policy.

I moved my home connection and moble (x2) services solely because of this.

That is annoying, but does the pay monthly plan have any sort of contract? If not, maybe just cancel it and get a much cheaper skinny prepay or similar?

Hi there Vexxboy,

To be eligible for a Pay Monthly discount on your broadband connection, the broadband does need to be on one of our current plans (the old Snap plans are retired).

In most cases, a new 2degrees plan + the Pay Monthly discount combo works out as better value than the ex-Snap plans, however there are a couple of cases where there is only a small difference or the Snap plan is better. You are more than welcome to remain on a retired Snap plan if you wish.

Please feel free to PM me your account number, I'm more than happy to run the numbers for you a second time if you like.

Thanks,

I'm an ex snap customer and considered changing to 2 degrees for mobile to get the discount - however it wasn't worth the hassle. They said I'd have to get another credit check done,  and that the mobile and broadband bills would still be separate and on difference days...  no thanks.

Per vexxxboy they apparently want to discourage people staying on true naked (no over-priced packaged VOIP).
