As the 2Degrees address checker said I could get UFB, I requested the upgrade from VDSL to UFB. This was midway through November 2015.

I have called several times for an update  and the last time I did this (3 weeks ago) I was told that someone would text me when they are ready.

I guess my question is: How long is normal to wait for this upgrade?

I know Christmas was in the middle, but it is coming up to 4 months. Did it take other people that long to get their UFB?

When I started my order, my dog didnt have his beard!

depends on weather you are a simple (stand alone property without an aerial drop) or a complex install (shared driveway or sometimes an aerial drop city dependant) it can take 1 weeks to over a year.

all 2 degrees can do is contact your LFC and try get info out of them but sometimes thats harder than getting blood from a stone

just be patience and it will eventually happen, at least you have VDSL

Took me 3mo, seen others taking 12+mo. Depends on your install.

Hey KiwiJaz,

Can you PM us your account number, we'll take a look and see whats up for you. If you are in a multi-dwelling unit (MDU) or shared driveway/right of way, the delay is likely consent related.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will keep waiting and hope it is not 12+ months! Yikes.

If you watch Qi on TV ( if you dont you should..)

Then one would hold up the "Know body Knows" Card

From a support side of things is damm disgraceful how poorly implimented

the UFB install process is from all quarters.

The whole process has a distinctly Monty Python approach to things..

Maybe they will get their act together for 2016 ( do you hear me Chorus, your installers and whichever ISP is involved ..)

What do you mean in terms of "consent" is this a council type consent that is done in the background or just consent from neighbors etc, if the latter how long should I have to wait for enable to contact me so any required consents can be acquired? So far I have spent 2hrs on hold trying to get answers with 2 Degrees and Enable, all I got from 2 Degrees was yes you should have been contacted here is Enables 0800 number, I have tried calling Enable several times only to be cut off each time after being on hold for 30 min. What is going on with this system? I tempted to throw in the whole fiber idea at the moment

MDU needs consent from all the owners of those units to enable a single person to get fibre

When I arranged it through Snap (as they were at the time) in Christchurch (so Enable) it was a very quick process. Made call to Snap in early June 2014 as soon as fibre went live on my street, and install was completed 10 July 2014 (they came back to reseal a small portion of asphalt some time after that).

I have a shared driveway, but they just sent me a consent form to have the neighbour sign and then I emailed it back to them. I then had confirmation of all the dates by the end of the following day.

The longest delay I had was getting the consent form back from my neighbour (I had emailed it to her and she had forgotten about it until I reminded her).

Almost all the communication and arrangements (apart from the original request to Snap) were directly between myself and Enable.

Have you been contacted by Enable yet?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Ralph ^JOB was very quick to get in touch with me and gave me an update.

There is 'some network build required to be able to get a connection in to your premises, the design of this build has been reviewed and accepted', and he has given me a rough estimate which is great.

Should be soon. I know these things are complex and I would imagine the fibre company (I assume that is Engage that you mentioned) is flat stick with all of the installs etc.

2Degrees have been good to me in the past and like someone mentioned, I am presently on VDSL, so luckier than some. I just have to watch my netflix streaming over the next wee while to make sure I don't go over my monthly bandwidth limit!

I assume from reading this that you are planning on going on unlimited fibre, is so why not just switch to unlimited VDSL in the meantime?

Not a bad idea, but I should be getting it very soon, so will just wait and try not to go over my allowance.

Thanks for the suggestion.
