Has anyone else noticed it's changed recently to "NZ Communications New Zealand - 2degrees", what was wrong with just "2degrees"?

Or is this a Auckland only thing.

Isn't that what they were originally called?

Hi,

Yes that's our original trading name and you'll see on some of our boxes.

Can you PM us some details please?

  • Your 2degrees number & 4 digit PIN
  • Where you were exactly when you saw that?
  • Time and date
  • Is it constant or intermittent?
  • Your phone make and model

Thanks

Why do you require the PIN for something like this ?

Just curious.

We have to authenticate customers as the owner of the account if there is an issue.

It is set by the handset firmware. The network broadcasts a code - 530 (NZ) 24 (us) - and the handset firmware interprets that as a string to display. The GSMA documentation that defined our preferred network name was updated waaay back before launch in 2009, so any handset that still says NZCL or New Zealand Communications Ltd or the like has been configured using seriously ancient info. :-)
