If you do not purchase a Data pack, and accidentally enable data on you phone, will it consume your balance or just not work?

I believe the former has just occurred to me and I'm pretty annoyed.

Prepay? You'll 'enjoy' the casual data rate.

I got thoroughly 'enjoyed' alright.

I'm not even convinced I turned it on. Given my pioneering foray into the Lumia 550 (Windows 10) -generally stable but occasional craziness occurs.

Check your Data sense settings. You can disable data usage there or set limits.

Casual data was recently enabled on PrePay by default. When your data runs out, you get charged. Apparently it can get turned off, but by some conspiracy, my posts on the topic on Vodafone forums disappeared. Hmmm.

Yeah I have mine turned off. I can't remember if I had to ring to do so, or just a setting on my account... But I definitely 'ran out' last month and had no data until my rollover 2 days later... With $23 credit on my prepay account

Go into a 2degrees store or call them up. They can prevent your phone from using casual data once you've used up your allocation.

I still get the 'Out of data' messages, but even with credit on there I cannot connect to the internet. It does seem like this option in their system is new and/or hidden since not many of their staff seem to be aware it's there.

Casual data was always enabled on prepay by default. But yes, you can turn it off.

Hmmm, I'm sure this was a Vodafone forum when I posted.

Nope. Always been in the 2Degrees sub-forum. Hasn't been moved here.
