I guess the reason I am making this thread is that I'd like some sort of accountability or at least explanation. Anyway, I'll begin...

MyRepublic prides itself on having "No Peak Time Lag" and having "Ultra-Low Latency" in order to entice people that actually care into going with them. Fair enough, a pretty reasonable pitch. Except it's not. According to the latest TrueNet results, MyRepublic doesn't even come close (not even second) to those claims.

As you can see, MyRepublic struggles to live up to their claims. They go as far as stating on their main website that "We buy more bandwidth per user than any other national ISP, to ensure you never experience peak time latency or speed issues", however as you can see in the second image, around 8pm they take a massive performance hit. Furthermore, in traceroutes that I have compared to another friend in Dunedin on a different ISP, they have showed that MyRepublic's ping is acutally worse than Spark to the same Australian server.

If as that wasn't enough, MyRepublic uses CGNAT (and burys the fact deep within its Terms) which means that you can't port forward and all of your traffic must route through Auckland. Technically speaking, that means that if I live in Dunedin and want to send a file to a friend across town, all of my traffic has to go all the way to Auckland and back, just to go across town. Don't be fooled, upgrading to a Static IP does not fix this, as all traffic still routes through Auckland.

Now all of this may seem kind of minor and it probably is, however the fact that MyRepublic advertises itself as being superior and offering no peak time lag and ultra low latency makes them seem better and they should be held to a higher standard. A standard that they are currently failing to meet. If you're going to make a claim, you best back it up.

After all, it wouldn't be the first time MyRepublic had falsely advertised, now would it?
