Thanks 2D for forcing me to spend more money than I want to by forcibly moving me to a Prepay Plus plan which if I had wanted to do I would have done so already I don't so don't see why I should have to move. So now any money I put on my phone is only going to last a month instead of 3.5

2 degrees can withdraw plans any time they want, and change their offerings. You can choose to move providers if you don't like it.

I'm currently on a standard Prepay plan and they want to move me without asking if I do or don't want to to a crappy prepay plus plan none of which I want because none of them suit me it normally costs me around $20 per 3~3.5 months so now with being forced onto a PP+ plan I'd have to spend a min of $8 per month on a talk and txt plan which if I go over the 250 txt's allowed I'll get charged a further $8 dollars and at the end of every month what ever is left over simply dissipates into the void

1: I usually only txt

2: I don't make phone calls ( well hardly ever and mostly to 0800)

3: I do not require Data ( that's what my home wifi is for)

I'm in the same boat. I'm now going to be paying 20c per SMS instead of 9c.

I'm going to Vodafone, Pay and Go is 1c per SMS.

That's weird, as 2D originally came in as a market disrupter, and they did that well, forcing the incumbents to lower their txt, etc rates to comparable levels.

Guess it wasn't sustainable in the end. Watch Spark and Voda up their plan costs in due course ...

Everyone wants to push their ARPU up.

Prepay Plus credit doesn't expire after a month, not sure what you're on about there.

If you can stomach $10/mo you could go on Warehouse Mobile which is an MVNO on 2degrees (so exactly same network).

Sounds like you will be (and would have been before this change) far better off on Vodafone.

I wasn't meaning the credit I was meaning any txts and as for call minutes rolling over well that's just a big woop dee doo da day for me as I've said I hardly make phone calls and by hardly I mean maybe 3 or 4 a year

I use 2degrees for their zone pack. $99 for 12 GB over 6 months.

No one else comes near that.

Under charges and payments section h it says payment of at least $20 at least once every 365 days. No different to prepay standard. In brackets it's got if NZ visitor SIM then it's every 90 days.

I will miss the 9 cent texting but I'm only sending few texts a year. Send most messages through the facebook messenger these days, even more incentive for people to start doing that now or similar services.

If casualy calling another mobile use to be cheaper to use 2degrees phone after top up discount, now slightly cheaper to do it on Spark landline, 39 cents instead of 44 cents, and other people might have even better landline to mobile deals.

So as long as they don't mess with the Zone data, and I read it right under prepay terms and conditions that top up is 365 days, not every few months then I'll stay, but be more wearly of sending texts when there's other ways.

Not so on any prepay plus plan, you have to take a plan and once you do that credit is gone at the end of the month sure minutes might roll over to next month (and as I've already said I txt way more than I call so any minutes on a plan is a waste of money for me) but any unused txts don't and it's another $8 so in two and a half months ya moneys gone yes your phone will stay live for 365 days if you don't put any money on it but you also wont be txting or calling anybody either unless it's an 0800 number or 111

You do not have to take a addon with prepay plus, there are still casual rates.

IMO the people that are complaining about these changes are so low spend that no telco would want them.

My wife is in this same boat. Looked at all the different options - and for us it's no biggy...the main difference for her is that she no longer gets those free topup texts...but meh - the amounts are so inconsequential for us it's not worth any more thought :D
