Is there an official updated webpage stating the 2degrees supported firmware(s) for the Fritzbox 7490?

Having a new post "Whats the latest firmware for the fritzbox?" every couple of months is annoying.

The reason _I_ ask is that I've got version 6.30 installed on my box, but a check on the internet says the most recent version is 6.52.

You should be able to go to ftp://ftp.avm.de/fritz.box/ to download the latest firmware (6.5)

Whether 2degrees supports it is another thing, but it's working fine for me.

Hi Jodi,

We are satisfied with the latest release from AVM, feel free to upgrade at your leisure. We've tested this in our use case scenarios and have started shipping new devices with this version. Latest version is a feature release (as opposed to the previous which was a security release), latest version brings a new UI and a number of feature enhancements. More info can be found here: https://en.avm.de/products/fritzos/fritzos-650/

We are currently working up the plan to begin deployment to our managed devices as well.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

Thanks for the speedy replies guys! Awesome!

Thanks Ralph, that's solved my immediate question (is it safe to upgrade? - yes to 6.50/6.52).

However Is there a place I can go to find this out for myself? Or will I have to ping you guys here every time I see I new firmware been released?

Find the new firmware isn't a problem. It's knowing if it's been ok'd by 2dgrees is the information I want to know. Is there a place I can check to see if a firmware has been blessed by two degrees.

Unless something is wrong or you really, really need a feature suggest you forget about it and let this appliance do its job. 2degrees will update as appropriate. You can update manually in the control panel if you want to.

Does the update show up through the UI now? Or do we have to manually apply the update?

I used the 6.30 UI to upgrade the firmware - seems to work without any issue.

@2degreesCare

Do we know whether AVM will be bringing the new OS to the 7390s?

Hey guys,

At present we don't have plans for a firmware related page on the website, however I will kick the idea upstairs and see if it is something we can do.

Given the volumes of devices we are sending these days, we are pretty well ingrained in the firmware testing process with AVM, and typically we have tested a couple of versions of beta firmware before it is released, so generally speaking we are happy by the time it releases. We've even had a few features added in to the latest release, which we are looking forward to livening up from our end.

As mentioned in the previous post, we'll be rolling out the update commands soon to existing managed devices, but definitely feel free to upgrade now if you like.

We are yet to hear timeframes for other devices (namely 7360 and 7390) however we are expecting these over the next few weeks. 7340 will likely not receive this update as it is end of life.

Thanks all,

Ralph ^JOB
