Can any of the friendly 2 Degrees / Snap staff that monitor these forums tell me if you are considering offering the Fritzbox 7580 in the future?

Thanks

Hi SheepNZ,

We are certainly keeping an eye on the new product lines from our hardware provider AVM, and are actively working with them to lock down the best device for our customers.

No news yet on which model we will be going with as yet, we'll continue to ship the 7490 for new customers until this is confirmed.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

I'm keen too. Had several Fritzboxes and am keen to stick with them and 2Degrees so please keep us in the loop Ralph.

Cheers!

P.S have to say I'm impressed with how well you communicate on Geekzone Ralph. Seen you help out heaps of people with their issues.

Yeah the Fritzbox is probably the main draw card to 2 Degrees for me. I'm just holding off signing up to a new 2 year plan because I'm hoping the 7580 will be released soon.

On that note, I'm assuming existing customers can still get a new modem free when they sign up for another 2 years? I'm still on the 7390, so am pretty keen for an upgrade to the 7490 or 7580 for improved wifi. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

@2DegreesCare

We are using a Fritz 7360. I didn't get the router from 2Degrees or when the name was Snap. It was left by a previous occupant of the flat I was staying in. Therefore is it possible to obtain the latest Fritz if I sign up for another 24 month contract. I have no intentions of changing providers so I might as well get into another contract. We have a 200Mbps fibre connection and 802.11n isn't really cutting it. My primary WiFi devices are 802.11ac compatible so it would be great to take advantage of the faster wifi standard.

Thank you.

I would be interested to know if you could sign up to the 2 year deal now, but wait for the 7580 modem (using an old Fritzbox in the mean time). If so, I think that would probably  convince me to sign up :)

Yeah that would be a very good option. I tried to change plans this week but when I got right to the end it never said anything about getting my modem upgrade so I didn't click confirm. Will need to follow up with 2 Degrees I suspect.

Seems like the 7580 is available in Europe now, and with excellent reviews. (Substantially better WiFi performance).

Any news if 2degrees will get them? @2degreescare?

Hey all,

Still no news I'm afraid, we'll be sure to let you know when there is.

Thanks,

One thing regarding my experience with fritz wifi --- the 7390 wifi was abysmal, absolutely awful , an absolute dichotomy to the other features and performance of the 7390. Even 30cm away the performance was dreadful. Why on earth would one build a BMW then put plastic wheels on the thing. This is what the people at fritz did with the 7390.

Then, i was upgraded to the 7490.   In my use situation, the  7490 wifi is great. No issues really, and comparable to the better wifi devices on the market.

7580-- i see no point to upgrade to this as the 7490 does everything i need just now.

7390 wifi has always worked fine for me. It's in a top cupboard, sitting on the wall, so it's up quite high. It cover the house and the whole section, a standard residential size. I wonder if they had quality control issues since a lot of people report issues with them.
